I am finished feeling sorry for myself.....I'm ready to face whatever comes. :D I have done some research this morning on treatments (not that I am questioning the doctor's judgement! ) but I think I have found a better treatment plan for my husband!! :hyper: I have checked with the pharmacudical company, just to confirm what I was pretty sure I read on the internet, checked with the insurance company to be sure this medication is covered (it is!!) and am now waiting for a call from the doctors office to discuss this (hey Stacey, if you are reading this, please tell Margaret I am waiting!!). ::yes:: At this point in the game, we have played by their rules each of the 3 times...NOW let's try it our way!!!! :teeth: GAME ON!! :bounce:

Way to go!!! :)

I know every time I get bad news about my DH I also sink into a defeatist attitude for about 24 hours.. I think it's kind of a "grieving" process, but usually by the next day I'm ready to walk right through the ring of fire and come out the other side..

As for your research.. My former supervisors Mom was diagnosed with cancer a year ago this past October.. She was told it was inoperable - NO treatments available - and she should just go home and enjoy what time she had left.. Well - her DD (my former supervisor) would NOT accept that and hit the internet running.. In very short order she found a treatment (experimental and in the beginning stages) at Sloan-Kettering (that the doctors here knew NOTHING about) and she got her Mom right in.. Long story short, the tumors are barely specks now and she's doing quite well! And even if it doesn't "cure" her, look how much time she has gained!!

It's said that the doctors don't have the time to keep up with every single study being done and I firmly believe that.. If you have found something that might work, go for it!!!!!!!!

Best of luck to you and your DH!

Great Attitude! I know anytime someone in my family has anything, I use the internet like crazy. It gives me a sense of "control". Knowledge IS power! :D
I will pray for your family.

Colleen and Dennis are going in!!!! :bounce: Hope all goes well, Colleen, good to check around like this.

Colleen, I hope this works well for DH!!!

Good for you and your new attitude!!! :)

GO FOR IT!!

Prayers and  as always :)

Nothing like talking to a doctor to slash one's hopes. :( They don't agree with my way of thinking and won't even consider it. Not an option they say. I talked to the family doctor and he agreed to prescribe the treatment I thought would be a good choice but only if they agreed with me. The doctor only gave his method of treatment a 10% chance of working. At this point in the game, I've come to realize that all we are doing is maintaining a virus free time while on treatment....I don't think anything that is currently FDA approved will work on a cure. If this is all we are doing, then why wouldn't they even consider what I suggested?? It's like telling someone you love to jump off a cliff and telling them they have a 10% chance of landing on the pillow. I don't know where we stand right now. It hurts to think again. :faint: :crazy2:

 What about consulting a new doctor?

I was going to suggest the same thing... wishing you all my best

If you haven't had second and third opinions please consider doing so. My brother chose to stick with the "expert" doctor in his area for a number of reasons he felt were most important, one being cost. The outcome was disasterous. I can't help but think that things might have turned out differently if he'd considered some of the options we researched for him.

Hang in there and good luck to you both.

Still doing research....trying to be hopeful. I THINK I came across something that would be nice to get into, but most studies are for non-responders, technically, he is a relapser! There's always a loop hole, isn't there??!! :earseek:
