Its 4am here in IL - I think we just had an earth quake

It was the freakiest thing! It felt like a car just hit the house.
Anyone know what happened? We're freaked out!

Checked online. Looks like allot of people are reporting it on Twitter. It was crazy! Not very big by other world standards, but I've never felt an earth quake before!
I don't know whats crazier... that we had an earthquake or that my first thought was... "I better go tell the Dis!" It's 4am and I know you guys won't mind me 'calling'

We get a few "small" earthquakes where we live. And by small, I mean the rattle the dishes variety of quake. If you have pets, you can see that they know that the quake is going to occur a few instants before it does. Kind of falls into the "Interesting and Strange" category!

It woke us up too. Bad enough with all this snow we have (6" yesterday and more today) but to add this! At least it was a small one.

From what the news is saying there is no damage. People felt it, but nothing major. They said they could feel it about 20 minutes from where I'm at. I doubt we felt it here, but I did wake up at that time.

No damage anywhere that I can see.
I think the most that would have happend was a few books falling off a shelf. It was just crazy to feel one.

It was really funny because we were all laying in bed unable to fall back asleep when we heard a snowplow go by and we both thought another earthquake had started!

I knew I woke up earlier than my alarm this morning, but I don't remember feeling the earthquake. I just turned over and went back to sleep.

But I am closer to the lake. Maybe I would have felt it more if I lived in the western suburbs. The last time there was an earthquake in IL a couple years ago, I was at Disneyland and missed it.
