DH got me a new Itouch for an early Val Day gift so that DS could watch movies on it when we travel. Only problem with THAT is that DS20months loves to TOUCH the screen while the movie is playing thus stopping the movie. :headache:

Is there a way to LOCK the screen while a video is playing so that DS can't stop the movie?

Bumping this up for you. I just asked DD15 since she has one but she doesn't know if there's a way to lock it.

I've had an iPhone for a long time and I've never found a way to do this. DH has an iTouch that is his most valued possession.. he says he doesn't think you can.

:confused3

I don't think there is.

Those screens are pretty breakable. I don't think they're really meant for 2 year olds.

I'm surprised at how durable my iPhone is - I've dropped it dozens of times and it just keeps on going. The screen is still in pristine condition, even though it is tossed around in my purse most of the time.

I don't know if a 2 year old could be harder on it than I am (at almost 40!). :rotfl2:

Like others have said, I don't think you can lock the screen. But I have seen cases for sale that has a little kick stand on the back, so you can set it up like on an airplane tray table and watch without holding it in your hands. Maybe if DS isn't actively holding it, he won't be as tempted to touch the screen.
eta: wouldn't work so well on a car trip, though.

Thanks. DS only holds it under direct supervision (while he is sitting in my lap or right beside me) so I'm not too worried about him hurting it but I would like for him to be able to watch his movie without constantly stopping it.

On the last plane ride we put the Touch back in the original hard plastic case during the flight so he couldn't touch the screen directly but that meant he could watch his show but he couldn't hear it. He is too young to leave earbuds in so we need the speakers.

Maybe Apple could come out with a kidproof Ipod touch. :thumbsup2
