I have an classic iPod; kids have iTouch 8GB.
I am looking to upgrade to an iTouch. I keep thinking 32GB...but is it worth the extra $?
My original holds 10K songs...we only have 2K or so on iTunes.
How do apps burn memory?
Target has a good deal Fri/Sat on 8GB...
(or 64 GB..??)

Songs and apps don't take up much memory, video does. If you think you will want to put a lot of movies and such on the itouch get the 32, otherwise the 8g will be fine.

DS moved from the classic to the Touch, and now wants a classic again. But we use our iPods for video a lot, and he quickly ran out of room.

You'll never regret having too much memory.

Hi could anyone tell me about battery life...I just bought the I pod touch referb last week and the battery doesn't seem to last that long??? I guess if you use it for games it gets used up faster?:confused3 My grandkids have been playing games and the battery doesn't seem to last long also does it use power if it is not turned off but you are not using it...thanks for any help:goodvibes just want to know it is working right before too late.

The battery is terrible!!! It's working normally. Always makes me happy it's not my phone too.

OP- if you are using it as an iPod the 8 works great! DH has the 8g. I use mine for surfing the net(I'm on it now) and the 32g works better in my case.

I anaonized over this decision last year at this time. Thought I only used a tiny bit of space. I am so glad I got the 32 memory. You won't regret it, apps don't take much space, but if you put on audio books, tv shows, movies you will want that memory. I currently use all 32g's of memory now.

Hi could anyone tell me about battery life.

Battery life isn't great. BUT, if you are not using wifi, go into settings and turn on airplane mode. Many apps that can hit the web will constantly try to reach out and do so. Airplane mode is a good way to extend battery life. Then, if you need to check mail or browse the web, turn off airplane mode and you're good to go.

Ok thank you guys so much...I am just puzzled by this and not tech savy..just thought it would be cool to play games but I have yet to get it from grandkids and play myself....but when I get it back, problably next week after Thanksgiving I will try the airline mode because I do live in the woods and there is no wifi anyway...I downloaded apps(well grandkids did) at my daughters on Monday cause I was having trouble on the dialup...like 1 1/2 hours to download 1 song!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks:goodvibes

Ok, I am debating this for my first touch...I am mainly looking for app usage, web browsing, and audio books. I dont plan on having more than one book on at a time..

As for the little room for video..are we talking long term storage of videos? If i get a video, I would probably watch it, then remove it..

I am soo lost...

DS13 just bought a 32gb touch. We convinced him to save for the one with more memory to avoid buyer's remorse if he ran out of room.

Memory on the iPad, iPhone and iPod is like closet space. You never have enough of it.

I'll go against the grain here -- I wouldn't spend the money on extra memory. I have an 8GB iPhone and never have space issues (and the phone part is not what I use it for the most :) ). I don't need my whole library on it. It is easy to synch it and pull what I'm going to be using for the next week, or even month. I find 8GB more than enough space.

Thanks, I'll try that.

If you turn your brightness down, the battery lasts longer, too.

I have an 8g nano with about 1000 song and am about to have to upgrade because I am running out of space (at about 7g) . I am thinking a 32g touch.
