Itinerary help!

Hello! My 21yo daughter and I are planning on visiting DW next month. We are from the west coast so we mostly do Disneyland. Last time we did DW was 10 years ago, so this time it's again kind of a go big or go home thing lol! We are also doing three days of Universal at the end of the trip. My current itinerary is a split stay between POLY and BCV and then: 2 days MK (plus one extended evening hours night), 2 days HS, 1 day EP (plus one extended evening hours night), 1 day AK, and 2 days pool/Disney Springs/more park time. Thoughts? Do we really need that many days for each park? Thank you!

It really depends on how much you like to do in the parks. My 14yo DD and I go for 10 days each summer and are in the parks pretty much from open to close for 8 of those days and love it! We visited DL for the first time 2 years ago and did 4 days there basically the same way - park open to close.

If you want to take your time, visit attractions more than once, take time to see shows and take in the atmosphere than you will be fine. Personally we would choose 2 days is Epcot over 2 days in DHS as we don't find that park needs 2 full days, but that's the only change I would offer to your plan.

Before I decide how many days in each park, I consult my family and make a list of the must do’s. (This includes rides, shows, pool time, etc.) I estimate how much time is involved for each activity (including character dining or any sit down meals) and then make a draft itinerary. When my daughter turned 21 she wanted to include some drinking in our itinerary, so that’s another thing to consider.
We love Epcot and don’t do any rides that might cause vertigo including 3D ones, so with your time frame, we would go to Epcot twice and HS once. My advice is to make some lists with your daughter and see if your itinerary matches your priorities. have fun! I love planning, in case you couldn’t tell.

The only suggestion I would make would be switching one of your HS days to Epcot. I think HS is definitely doable in one day, especially if you get Genie+ and avoid lines. My family and I always like an extra day in Epcot so that we can take our time exploring the countries and eating all the foods we want to try. If you're going after 1/12, you will be there for the Festivals of the Arts as well, which means there will be even more to do in Epcot.

I agree with the HS Epcot switch. HS has a lot of overlap with Disneyland. Galaxy's Edge, runaway railway and midway mania are all carbon copies. The rest you can fit in a day easily. Epcot or AK could get a second day depending on your preference. I'm not a big zoo person so we don't usually do more than one day, but some people love all the walking trails and animal viewing areas. I'd also try to have a rough idea of what you want to do on your off days and a backup plan if it's too cold for swimming. But yes, you really do need those days, and you still won't see it all, just most. Especially at magic kingdom. Even with 2 days plus an evening there may be a few things you aren't able to get to.

As a DL local, I don't think you need two days at MK or DHS. Very similar rides and most are not as good as our version.
Obviously MK & DHS have Tron, 7DMT, RnR but I find DHS to be a half day park at best. We have the same SWGE attractions in DL.
I definitely think you need more time in Epcot. It's my favorite park and maybe even additional day at AK if you like to do the trails.
