I have been reading a lot about the crowds lately, and I realized both of our MK days are listed as a 7. I really want to go to MK on our first day, so I was thinking about going in the AM and then leaving around 3 and heading to DHS, then adding another MK day somewhere. Is this a good idea or am I overthinking the crowd levels?

A side note- we probably won't be able to do rope drop as our flight doesn't get in until 10 the night before and we have young kids.

Thank you!

If you can't get there at rope drop you can still get in your 3 FP+ selections and maybe some other attractions that have shorter wait times. Then schedule different FP+ for your other MK day.

I agree. Everybody has their first desires, if you want it to be MK, then do that. Get your three fast passes and then when you see the lines getting a little long, look on the Diseny app and find what park is slow, or take that mid morning nap, then go back and enjoy a night time show and do one fast pass at a time. When are you going? That could also be key as to when and what to do?

Thank you! That is exactly what I was planning but I was worried I was overthinking. Our first day will be December 9th.

We will be there Dec 8 - 15 too!
In my past experience, MK is usually pretty decent until about 10:30am. When we get there around 9 - 9:30, we usually have about an hour where we can do a few of the rides and pretty much walk right on (we usually head back to Adventure Land and Frontier land first). However, this will be the Christmas season and there might be more locals there on the weekends. So, my approach might not work during this time. I think the worst day to try to MK is on a Monday though, so you might be OK with the Saturday date.

I'm super excited to be down there during Christmas!! It's been several years since we were there at Christmas and I just love it down there when it's all decorated. :santa:

Have a great trip!

Nope, I think that is pretty standard for a lot of people. Remember there is such thing as too much planning. I think I'm doing that right now. I know there are those that have to have every meal planned and scheduled, but I've only had to do that for three meals and two of them are days where we won't even be in the park. So I'm only planning on fast passing the first part of the day and then after that we are going to be a fly by the seat of our pants group.

Thanks! That is great advice! I am a classic over planner so I am really trying hard not to overdo, especially with 2 little kids! We have Chef Mickey Reservations for 2pm, so I will use that meal to determine if we should go back to MK or try DHS.

Thanks you too! It looks for that week the crowds are little higher on Saturday but who knows how accurate that is!

Starting off in adventure land is a really good idea, most people head to Fantasyland and Future land for Peter Pan and 7DMT and space mountain, so if you headed to the left you could probably hit haunted mansion and Pirates and even splash and Big thunder before the other crowds really start to make their way over.

That is a great idea! The next Saturday we got PPO BOG so we can tackle Fantasy land then!

I know your pain. I'm trying to figure things out myself. I'm going with two newbies and I want to try and get in as much as possible. The good thing is the early morning hours are only fantasy land and future land so that should help us sweep up those rides we miss if we don't get fast passes. I'm trying to not over lap any fast passes, but that is hard to do at Epcot.

We are actually all newbie-ish. Its a group of 12 of us. DH haven't been in about 10 years! I am hoping this is the beginning of frequent visits :)

Ug all the other fastpasses I know what I want to do but Epcot drives me crazy!

12????? Oh that is going to be like hearding kittens.

LOL that is very funny!

Luckily not everyone is staying the whole time!
At this point I would just schedule the fast passes to be before one and then anybody over 18 is free to do what they want after that time. I'm only taking three and thats what im doing.

IN 11 years with over 55 trips, my universal experience has been that MK with RD is very manageable until 11am-1pm (depending upon the time of year. ) Around noon u start to see THE WALL of people coming up Main Street and Saturdays at MK are the worst, but again very doable with rope drop.

That's actually what I'm hoping! We are going with both sets of grandparents and some aunts and uncles. The nice thing is dh and I get two date nights :)
