Okay...I went last year. I did NOT like having an off day. That whole day I wished and wished I was in the parks! We got there early in the morning and didn't go to the park that day and I wished I was in the park that day too!

My kids didn't really like breaks either. They only asked to go back to the resort once. My baby naps in the stroller and isn't on a schedule.

I'm saying this to say I don't want non park days! I didn't enjoy DTD(other than the cool purse I bought). While I thought I'd want to resort hop, it wasn't something I was really interested in once I arrived. lol So I upped my tickets from 6 to 8 this year. I'm hoping that going to the park more days for less hours may be better for us. I'm torn between so many options.

I'm going Sept 4th-Sept 12th. So hopefully not too busy. Where are the commando park people?! Help!

Plan A:
Arrival Day(Friday Sept 4th- Evening EMH Epcot)
-Epcot at 12 or 1 ish. - Tour WS; eat snacks; meet characters look for entertainment; FP Nemo, Crush; Test Track(two of our party with Rider swap) and Mission Space(two of our party) from 6-9.
Leave skip Illuminations and go to the hotel for bed.
Saturday
Sleep in.
-Epcot at 1ish - Tour Future World. Spaceship Earth. FP Test Track(two of our party with Rider Swap). I was going to do Innovations East and West but that may not be an option. Living in the Land. Garden Grill. FP Soarin'(two of our party) and Epcot character spot. Maybe MK EMH
Sunday
-MK around 10; 'Ohana at 5; Choose to go back to MK or back to hotel depending on my kids and if they are tired or want to keep going. We are willing to split up too.
Monday
-AK - prepark ADR at Tusker; stay until close; Dinner at Sanaa at 5:45; DHS EMH for Disney Jr. Dance Party for maybe 30ish mins.
Tuesday
-DHS - 9-1; JTA if possible; back to hotel for rest; 7:00 dinner at BOG; MK EMH
Wednesday
MK- 9-9; Lunch at BOG; Dinner at Crystal Palace.
Thursday
Sleep in
HS - around 12 for Disney Jr. Live on stage; H&V lunch at 1:10 for Fantasmic package. Stay for show Fantasmic!.
Friday
MK - CRT at 8:15. 9-7 it closes for Night of Joy. Back to the hotel to sleep.
Saturday
Chef Mickey's/Cape May before we leave.

Plan B.
Same as above except AK on Wednesday morning the hop over to MK for lunch. I wished I had more time at AK last trip.

Plan C
Friday
DHS - 1-6 so I can hit Character Palooza more than once(Saturday and Thursday). Boat over to Epcot and tour WS just a little.
Saturday
Epcot - Same as A
Sunday
MK - Same as A
Monday
AK - Same as A
Tuesday
Epcot
Future World 8-11; Tour WS and meet characters from 11-2; Back to the hotel and then dinner at BOG at 7:00.
Wednesday
MK - Same as A
Thursday
DHS - Same as A
Friday
MK - Same as A

Plan D
Same as C except AK on Wednesday morning the hop over to MK for lunch.

Commandos Unite!!

I like option A best.

Seems like you could save a lot by not doing park hoppers. I mean, you're only using them two days.

Having said that, we're one day per park people, but are trying hoppers this year just for something different.

It would save a lot that's for sure. I just love MK EMH. I only used them three times(once for like an hour) last time. But MK at night with no one around. Too much Pixie Dust in my eyes! lol

Maybe I should go with that hopping from AK to MK on the Wednesday!

I hear ya. I think one full day at AK will be enough, but you can always change that on the fly. If you feel you didn't get enough AK time in on Monday, just go Wed morning too. Maybe move that BOG lunch (and CP dinner) to a later lunch time to give you more time at AK just in case.

For many years, I as well as many other people on this board have posted against the idea of having down days while at Disney, sleeping in, and what a waste of time DTD is. People, however have to learn for themselves. For our family, there's no such thing as sleeping in at WDW. Disney is not a restful vacation. We can sleep at home. Every second you sleep in, the crowds are getting larger and the heat is getting hotter. That's why I always suggest for one, returning home on a Friday, which leaves the whole weekend to recuperate, before heading back to work, and two, breaks during the day, back at the resort are not as much for the kids, as they are for my wife and I. We need the relaxation away from the hustling bustling crowds, and heat.

I'll play that loosey goosey! CP the latest I could get was 6:30 that day. I really enjoyed AK and wished I had more time. I like the idea of doing the Safari and Dinosaur twice BUT I did leave at around 3:30 and it was a busier week from what I'm reading. So you're right one day may hit the spot. I'll just make my MK FPs for later after lunch!

Yeah, it was my first trip and having that down day made me so anxious to get to a park! We went mini golfing and it was good downtime for the ILs, but I'll tell you every stroke I could have been meeting a character or riding Peter Pan!

In hindsight I could have gone and added a day of tickets.

I'm with you, I could never have a full down day at Disney, I'd be itching to get to a park. My son is turning out to be the same way, he's now 7 and on last year's trip I had lots of afternoon pool time planned and we did exactly none of it. Every day after lunch I would ask if he'd like to take a break at the pool and every day he chose to stay in the park. We swam once the entire week and it was August. :rotfl:

That being said, I totally get it and I think you more than compensate for down time or midday breaks by having a few sleep in mornings and breaking things up with ADRs and/or park hops.

I like Plan A the best, but if you find you really want more AK time after your full day on Tuesday, you can always make a last minute change to your Wednesday morning.

Thank you! When I look at this I see a lot of downtime and rest! My friend told me I was nuts! Haha.

My boys loved swimming at night because they had never done it before. Pools here close at dusk. We'd give them 15 -20 mins while we got snacks and refilled mugs and they were happy as kids in Disney! lol
