If an item is forgotten and left in a Guest's room on check-out day, does Disney go ahead and mail the item since they know who it belongs to or do they turn it over to L&F?

Thanks!

The time we left a portable DVD player in the room ... we received a call from the resort to check with their lost and found.

So I think if they know the guest, they will try contact info first?

It really depends. If you know you lost something I would call as they may mail it but they may also turn it into lost and found.

My daughter left a few items of clothing in a drawer at Coronado Springs. They didn't contact us but we called asap when we got home and housekeeping had packaged them with our room number and they were still at the resort. Not sure if they would have eventually called or sent them to lost and found but we got them back safe and sound.

DW just left my favorite sweatshirt... contacted them, and they mailed it back. The Mouse paid!

Just realize that there could be multiple guests in a room with different addresses. For example, if my husband and I were down there with two of our grandchildren, we live in Georgia, they live in Maryland. So Disney might not know who the items belong to. So it is better to call right away when you discover something was left behind. You can then also confirm it is yours since you can describe it.

I had left a new tshirt that I had purchased at the MK. When we returned home, my wife did the laundry and I was putting my clothes away when I asked her what had happened to my new tshirt. She said all the wash was done, I must have left it in the drawer. I called customer service. She contacted the resort who reported no shirt was turned in by housekeeping. She then asked if I could send a description or the shirt and the sales receipt they might be able to help me. I sent a copy of a photo of me at the MK wearing the new shirt along with the receipt. The shirt came to me in the mail in 5 days. I love Walt Disney World.

We received a call or email (I don't remember which) letting us know that they had found my son's swim trunks in the room and that they would mail them back to me. Oh, that's right, I remember, it was a phone call, which my husband answered (he had not traveled with us) ...telling me that they found a MAN'S swimsuit in my room. We had quite the laugh (DS is Man sized) about my traveling companion.

Anyway, they mailed it at Disney's expense.

Lucky! I left an almost new bathing suit on the back of the bathroom door once and supposedly it was never seen - I called at night after I got home in the afternoon and unpacked.

During checkout at WL, a bag fell off of the porters cart and none of us saw it. Before we hit the Florida line, we received a call from WL asking us to check if we had lost a bag. I pulled over and sure enough, I was missing one. They overnight-ed the bag to us on their dime. I was impressed with their service!

One time we were staying at the Poly and my daughter (then 5) left her "Woobie" (blanket) on the bed....the mouse keeper didn't notice it I guess and it was gone forever! we looked every where and asked every one but to no avail! my daughter was devastated the whole trip. I understand it was just a little blanket to the staff but it had my daughters name on it and grandma made it for her. We are very careful that we don't leave anything out or around when we leave the rooms and especially when we go home.

From a very young age, we taught our son not to leave anything on a hotel/resort bed. Before we would leave for the day, we made sure nothing was on the bed. It was just part of our routine. Housekeepers come in, get the laundry out (especially on a guest's departure day so they can turn over the room quickly) and move on.

My husband somehow left his iPad in the room at the Poly when we checked out. He realized it as we were driving home. He called the resort and they said Housekeeping had already noted it. They shipped it - packaged very carefully so it wouldn't break and I think he had it back two days later.

We left two iPads in the safe in our room at AKL. I realized it about 6 hours after we checked out, when we were already at Universal. I was able to make contact with the resort's lost and found and they had it noted in the system, so they went ahead and mailed it back to us. We weren't going to be home for another 4 days, so they shipped it out the night before so it would arrive on the same day we arrived home. Couldn't have gone better!

Yeah, lesson was learned the hard way.

in 2013, I lost a green safari hat that I had purchased from AK. We were staying at BC and it was lost in a common area a few nights before checkout. Daily trips to the Lost and Found... nothing. They took down my info of course.

Over a month later, bam! Surprise package in the mail. They'd found it and sent it. Wholly unexpected.
