Not only that, but Napolean wasn't French.
Napolean was born in Corsica. A year before he was born the island was sold by Genoa to France's Louis XV. So that's up to debate.

Oh heck, I thought it was for vacation destinations, not soccer. LOL

I chose Italy. As for soccer, I don't care who wins.

:badpc: I was rooting for France.

Forgot to say: Zidane, what were you thinking!?!?! :furious:

Pretty fitting ending, eh? And Zidane gets the MVP or golden shoe or whatever - too much.

I feel bad for him, if that's the way he's going to end his career. At the World Cup in the locker room.

But I hated how the announcers couldn't even pretend that they thought that Italy would have won if he hadn't done what he'd done and gotten kicked out. I mean, I think part of the reason he lost it was because the Italians were so tough defensively and it wore him down.

The latest rumour is Zidane "lost it" after Materazzi said "I hope Jean suffered" to him. Jean is Jean Varraud, Zidane's former coach, who he looked upon as a second father. He had died just before the World Cup after a long battle with cancer. If this is the case, Zidane didn't hit him hard enough.

Italians using under-hand methods in football. Who'd have thought?

oooohhh, I was wondering! That's bad! I still think he was pretty frustrated and not on his game before that, though.

Well, sorry if that's the case, but I still can't help being excited over an Italian victory!

To be honest, neither of the two teams interest me. But after France's knack of going to ground at the slightest touch in recent times, I plumped for the Italians, although on the night, I thought France showed more adventure.

As for Zidane, I would rather he "bit his own tongue" and gone on and help win the cup for France, and seek retribution on Materrazzi after the game.

I haven't heard that rumor. In every article I've read, it mentions that Materazzi possibly called Zidane a "dirty terrorist." But Materazzi denies that he did.

Anyway, I'm very happy that Italy won and I'm going to watch the game again on tv. I need to see Luca Toni again.

One of France's other players who heard what was said will apparently spill the beans if Zidane doesn't want too. Footballers give each other a lot of earache during a game, and I don't buy the terrorist rumour one bit. In one of the highest profile games which co-incided with it being the final game of his long and quite outstanding career, I find it difficult to believe that a rascist comment would trigger that kind of reaction from him. Rascist comments are quite abundant in Spanish football from both players and supporters and I don't think muslim jibes will be anything new to him.

Zidane apparently will make a statement when he's calmer.

Can't believe that guy headbutted him.

Sucks for France, since they played MUCH better throughout the game..just couldn't get that elusive 2nd goal.

Yes, I'm quoting myself!

I just wanted to add that this is what's called humor. Which leads me to the question, laugh much?

Sure I laugh, but living the US right now with a French husband and half French kids with French names sucks. And there are morons out there who don't care if it's a kid they're talking to they'll still run their mouths and bash the French in front of my kids and that's not ok.

I missed the festivities. :guilty: I'm on vacation in America, but my friend told me the neighborhood went crazy. Wish I could have been there.

I guess that's because of the Italian defense -- I mean, that's kind of the point, right?

Exactly! :teeth:

Zidane has a history of losing his temper. What a moron! :sad2:
