Italian night activities

My family has started doing an international night once a week where we have food and activities from a different country. This week we've decided to do Italy. I'm making polla alla potentina, but I can't figure out what kind of activity to do to go along with it.

When we did England, we watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and last week when we did Germany, we played Settlers of Catan. I'm just drawing a blank on anything for Italy. Any suggestions?

How fun!!

Try some dancing! The tarentelle is a traditional Italian dance that involves holding hands and dancing in a circle. The music gets faster and faster as the song goes on and your kids will have fun trying to keep up with the music. I'm sure you could find a youtube video somewhere to give you a better idea of what I'm talking about!

Not sure if what time you'll be doing this, but if it's not dark out you can play bocce in the yard. Of course you'll need bocce balls though. During dinner you can put some italian music on, too.

go to the library and get some tapes or Cds to "learn Italian" and either do a little italian dessert and coffee or make tiramisu and have espresso .

Maybe you can buy or bake some biscotti and then do chocolate dipping as an activity while you learn italian?

Have a coffee tasting?

Play cards! That is what my family ALWAYS did! I swear that being able to play cards is some type of requirement to be Italian! I don't know an Italian family (our included) that doesn't play cards.

listen to Italian music and have the whole family participate in the cooking! Isnt that what Italian families do? Hehe, obviously I am Irish.

Some of my family is Italian American, and that side likes to play card games, though not very Italian ones (poker, blackjack, bridge).

That would be a great solution, but, unfortunately, it's raining all week here. My husband has a bocce set at work, so that would have been perfect!

This was my thought! Our town parks have bocce courts, with a bunch of old Italian men playing, but any large stretch of grass or dirt will do!

My thoughts went straight to all the wonderful art work in Italy. Maybe look at some photos of some of the most famous paintings and sculprutes online and then have everyone do some painting of their own?

Have a wine tasting using Italian wines (for those of age who won't be driving!)

Have a chocolate tasting with some Italian chocolates

A coffee tasting, cappuchino, espresso etc

A dessert tasting of Italian desserts, biscotti, tiramisu, Italian cookies etc.
