I'm looking for an awesome italian food restaurant to make an ADR (dinner) at. I have Mama Melrose already, but I still want to do something else....

I initially had Il Mulino picked out but they're not on the Deluxe dining plan....any suggestions....?? Family friendly is a MUST!!!

Honestly, none of the Italian food at Disney is awesome. Mama's is good - much better than Tony's, but none of the Italian food at Disney is outstanding.

absolutely, tutto italia!
not as many reviews as it just opened last year, but a much more authentic experience than the other options. delicious food, very nice atmosphere, attentive service. it is actually one of the best TS in wdw (including signature)....:)

I was going to post this same question. My MIL wants to eat at an Italian restaurant while we are there. Which is the best one? I was thinking of the one in Epcot, we are going in Oct and I read some where that they might be closing. She mentioned wanting Lasagna and I didn't see Lasanga on the menu for Tony's or Mama Melrose.

We are traveling with me, DH, DS (4) and DD (1), then FIL and MIL. FIL and DH are not big Italian eatters so I orginially didn't have any Italian Restaurants on my list of possible ADRs, but MIL is requesting one.

My family will be on the meal plan and ILs will not be.

The two Italian sit down places on the DDP are Mama Melrose's and Tutto in Epcot. Out of the two I would say go with Mama's. It you want an upscale Italian experiance then Il Mulino's is outstanding but it is not on the DDP.

I prefer Tony's to MM any day. We had one of our worst meals at MM. Everyone has different preferences. I thought the food at MM was very ummm bland and the service was terrible. We went to Tony's this past August and it was one of our best meals of the trip. I'm Italian and of course nothing is like your home made sauce but Tony's was very enjoyable.

I don't know about Il Mulino. But neither MM nor Tony's are even in the same league as Tutto. And I have eaten at the last two mentioned in less than a month.

I agree with this I have never been to Tutto so I couldn't comment on that one I didn't mean to imply that they were all in the same league. I ate at Alfredo's years ago and it was definitely a step above at that time.

Go to Universal and go here to Mama Della's It is delicious! (not on the dining plan though:rotfl2: )

Buon Appetito!

At Mama’s, everyone is family! Featuring authentic Old World favorites from Tuscany, Naples, Piemonte.

Mama herself often greets guests in person and encourages everyone to “Eat! Eat!” Strolling musicians create a memorable atmosphere for an unforgettable meal that is fun for the whole family! Buon Appetito!

Enjoy your favorite Italian dish...Insalata Caprese, Ravioli Di Formaggio, Lasagna, Linguine alla Vongole… to name a few!

Open daily for dinner at 5pm; Reservations recommended 407-503-DINE (3463).

Walk down the street from DTD and go to the Olive Garden...better food, less expensive.

Wow.........I was waiting to hear something good!! Heck, if I want Olive Garden, I have one down the street form my house!! Maybe I'll skip the Italian food dining :o)

i'm almost ashamed to admit it, but i find OL fun :guilty: (just don't tell my mother ;) lol) but it's great for a diverse group, just basic, americanized italian in a cute atmosphere.
tutto italia is far from that tho. the cooking is more akin to my mom's & grandparents' (both chefs in their own northern italian restaurant). the authenticity won't appeal to everyone (stick to OL for that:rolleyes: ), but it is a fine example of "better" italian cooking. of course, for the best, you would need to go to a small restaurant that no one knows about (there's an excellent one in great river, long island), a few in manhatten, or my mom's house (where i'm sure you would be warmly welcomed) :lmao: even the atmosphere varies between the three; we find tony's cute & great for large parties, MM decor more ethnic and "family friendly", TI quieter and more romantic (still fine for families, but a tad more elegant).
TI is definately in a different category than MM & tony's (not neccessarily better or worse, just appealing to different people). bottom line, (IMO) there isn't a single restaurant in WDW or elsewhere that one should eat at based solely on reviews ~ the adventure is trying them all, & finding the ones you personally like best.
hth :)
