italian charm bracelets

You can get the 14k Disney charms on Ebay for much cheaper than the Jewelry stores and at Disney.:D

You can take links out for a child. As I have taken out links of mine I keep them to make another bracelet.

I read that you can get charms in Epcot. Does anyone know if you can get one of Figment? He's my favorite. Thanks, donna

I've posted on this subject before, but since the links have come up again, I thought I'd share. Be wary of the "expensive" $25-50 charms. They are basically silver charms with colored metal inlaid in them. My wife bought five of them last year. Within two weeks of being home, one of the inlays had chipped in half and fallen out. We called and had a replacement shipped. Within two days of that one coming, another inlay completely fell out! Sadly, we ended up sending the whole thing back. Just my two cents on them. Some of the higher-priced Disney stuff is good quality, but only a small amount of it, IMO.

I have not seen a Figment italian charm and believe me, I looked at every charm that was available when I was there in Feb.

The main difference in the charms is the "expensive" ones on the back say "walt disney company" and "sterling silver" AND at some stores at wdw you can find charms for about 3 to 5 dollars they say "disney" on the back. They are not sterling silver. They are found out on racks, with earring, and other jewlery, The "good" charms are usually in the locked up cabinet and you ask to look at them. So be sure if your buying on e-bay etc.... and paying more you get the true sterling silver - charm ;)

MKY princess:

Just remember that you get what you pay for! I got the $3-$5 charms at the POFQ and my mickey head fell off within 2 days of being home and the two birthstone mickey heads lost stones out of their ears even before I got out of FLA. I knew they were cheap but expected them to last at least a few weeks before being in disrepair.

"Inexpensive" vs "Expensive" italian charm bracelets

Here is the difference:
The inexpensive ones are silver tone charms with pictures on them. In Feb when I was looking at these, I saw only 6 or 8 different ones in addition to the birthstone Mickey heads for each month (12 of these) and the alphabet/number ones (35 or so of these). These ones were $3 each (or so). You can get a silver tone starter bracelet for $6 that has 14 links. These charms and the bracelet are just "silver-tone" so be wary of getting it too wet and leaving it wet as it may rust or turn colors.

The expensive ones are NOT sterling silver but are stainless steel and come in a variety of styles. The single stainless steel charms with a single picture on it were running about $25-$28. The double charms and dangle charms and more elaborate charms were priced up to $50 or $60. Some of them have gold on them and this is 18K gold. They have way more of the stainless steel ones than the "silver-tone" ones. Stainless steel won't rust or turn.

There are two types of starter bracelets you can get that are stainless steel. You can get one where all of the links have a "laser" Mickey head on it or you can get a plain one. The Mickey head one is $18 and consists of 14 links. My adult, very average, generally wear a 7 inch bracelet wrist needs 18 links to make a comfortable bracelet. You can add more links or remove links to make a custom size bracelet.

I got my bracelet and charms at the World Of Disney in the jewelry room. The inexpensive charms and starter bracelets were hanging on a rack. The expensive ones were in a case and required a CM to get. I also saw the expensive ones at the Italy Pavillion at Epcot (imagine that). I saw the inexpensive ones in various places throughout WDW.

I got a stainless steel Mickey head starter bracelet and added some inexpensive charms to it. They worked well together. I had a heck of a time getting the charms on so I would recommend an italian charm took. I got one off of ebay.

Your right, I didn't get my bifocal's out ;) says "stainless" steel:earseek: Thanks you for the correction.

Surprisingly enough, Disney Worlds prices for the stainless charms are better than all of the stores here at home, and better than most of the internet stores. The stainless charms were sold in cases in several places that I saw. I saw them, and the Mickey head starter braclets at World of Disney, the jewelry store in MK and at Mouse Gears at Epcot. Oh also, a store at MGM had them (I can't remember the name though, it's on the main drag on the left side if you are facing the hat).

The $3 charms are sold on spinning racks at many of the gift shops. Like others said though, you get what you pay for. My dd bought several for her bracelet and the jewel fell out of one of Mickey's ears a few days after we got home.

And (just for the record) you can get the stainless steel ones on Ebay for around $3-$5 and they hold up very well. I have some laser ones and some with the attached raised object sauldered on and I have had my bracelet for 8 months. Never rusted, nothing ever fell off of it, never turned my wrist green, never chipped. I love it!! I think now, even if it did happen, I wouldn't care because I didn't spend that much money on it. I think I'll start a new thread and ask people to tell what charms they have on the bracelet they wear- I'm curious! :)
