"It Will Be A LITTLE Bumpy When We Land..."

Ever hear these words while you are flying and the captain comes on to give an update? Makes me cringe and tense up every time! I find the translation usually means "It is going to get pretty rough landing and we will toss 'n turn you around making you nauseous before putting this vehicle back onto the ground..."

So do you take a laid back approach, or do you get a tad nervous when in the air?

I hate it when the captain says that but if I am lucky I am still asleep when we land - if not I am sitting there gripping the arm rests

It doesn't bother me much. It is just something I expect when we travel during stormy times of the year.

We're not flying until October but I already have that dreaded feeling in my stomach of what's to come. I have always been a very nervous flyer. A landing like that might do me in.

I'd rather have a bumpy landing than a bumpy flight. With the landing you know it is almost over. I get nervous when they put the seat belt sign on and say the flight is going to get bumpy. Those unexpected air dips - yuck!

LOL, I just pretend I'm on a bus on Indiana roads.

I've never flown. I expect when I do take my first flight, the flight itself will be bumpy, the landing will probably be more than bumpy.

It doesn't bother me at all, I have had quite a few bumpy flights and landings, I got used to it.

its better then if he says "I think the landing gear is down, not sure " I actually heard that

Im actually a little more relaxed as we are landing. Something about getting closer to the ground gives me a good feeling. Its when we are flying and start feeling all that bumpiness and shaking when Im convinced something is wrong.

Ditto!

When we fly, no one in my family likes to sit beside of me......does that tell you how much I enjoy flying! ;) ;)

I remember one time flying from Denver, Colorado to Philly, PA in January. The plane made a quick stop over in Kansas City. As the plane was taxing (sp?) out to the runway. The pilot announced that "the deicer on the wings was not working, so if it was snowing in Philly, we would reroute to Atlanta." OMG, here we are taxing in Kansas (I personally believe to be a frozen wasteland) and he says that. Talk about being NERVOUS. I have to wonder 'WHY does the piolt tell us things like that, some stuff is better kept to yourself. LOL

I love to fly but I hate the smallest amount of turbulence. I've been spoiled with some very smooth flights so I get white-knuckled when things get a little bumpy. I feel better as soon as we start decending. Those dips I don't mind because I know we're supposed to be landing soon.

Bumpiness in flying doesn't bug me at all. I get more 'nervous' when flights are delayed or canceled. Once I am in the plane and I am told we are taking off, I am happy :) Bumps during take off, landing or even in the air are fine with me. I'd take that any day over the 2 hours of screaming and shreaking I had last night on the plane ride home (which was the entire ride home too). I can sleep through the bumps, but not the screams :teeth:
