Is the globe gone yet?

We leave Sunday. I though the globe was supposed to be gone as of August 13 but I haven't seen anything posted since then confirming that the globe rehab has started.

It's not gone yet. There's some speculation that it will stay in the show until after Fay passes, because due to the bad weather they're running IllumiNations without the fireworks and are just using the globe, fountains and lasers. But right now it's anybody's guess if/when the globe will be removed.

why is the globe supposed to be gone? I must be out of the loop. We saw illuminations on the 12th and it was still there and as of the 18th we saw it to the side as we were eating dinner at Tokyo Dining so they must have still been using it then.

The rumor is that the globe will be undergoing a major refurbishment to replace its LCD screens and all other electrical components. But nothing has officially been announced by Disney, so nobody really knows if or when the refurb will take place.

The globe is an important part of IllumiNations, but the show can be performed without it. They did a few test shows back in February to see how it would run. You can see a video of one of the shows here:

I was bummed when we went 3 weeks ago...the show was not that good without it.

Wondering how ling the rehab will be?? I'm sure it'll be back before I head back in Jan.
