My poor Mom.. :( She just turned 87 and is getting more confused by the minute..

My granddaughters birthday was last month and my birthday is this week.. She sent my birthday card to my brother in Vero Beach ; a letter to my sister up here to me ; my granddaughters birthday card to my DD's in-laws ; an unsigned check for me to my nephew in Boston ; and wants to know when someone is coming by to pick up the Christmas gifts...

God love her for trying, but it's a good thing she doesn't live at home anymore and have to try to pay her bills! :earseek:

Don't you feel like you are the parent now? I kind of feel that way about my mom now that dad is gone.

I hope I get to live to the age of confusion! Wow, 87 years old and still trying to keep birthdays straight. That's almost more than I can do at 44. LOL !

Hope all is well with you C.Ann. I always read your posts. :sunny:

Maybe she is just scheming to bring your family closer?

If she sends your birthday card to your brother, she has contacted your brother, and your brother has to contact you. Then you will probably call her. Now 1 correspondance between 2 people has grown into 3!

It is brilliant!

I feel for you. I'm only in my 20s, with a mother in her 50s, but she has dementia and I just know exactly what you're talking about. Siblings must help somewhat though. That's been the hardest part for me-not having siblings to share it all with.

:grouphug: Hi C.Ann,

My mom is in the same boat. She fell a week ago and could not remember how or where it happened. She fractured her toe.
While I had her at the doctor he was going to give her antibiotics, I told him she already had some from last week. She had been at the E.R, for swollen legs. When he asked her about it, she could not remember why she was at the E.R.

I went over to check on her yesterday, she lives in an apt., she finally admitted she will have to go to a nursing home someday.
I think that someday will be sooner than she thinks.

Unfortunately, it is just my sister and I to take care of her. My brothers don't do a thing, and our oldest sister is in Dallas.
I still have young kids, and can't get over there every day to check on her.
She gets angry with me, but I can only do so much.

Here's a :grouphug: for you and any other Diser having to deal with this type of situation.

Lisa
