The last few weeks have been challenging. Lots of stress in my job, not enough hours in a day and a problem with my car that the dealer just can seem to fix.

But my feet are dry.

Thats more than thousands of people can say. In a few weeks, I will have found solutions to most of my problems. I will still have a job, a loving wife, plenty of food and water and an air conditioned home to live in. That too is more than thousands of people can say today, or even six months from today.

When I consider that fate of the Hurricane victoms, I realize I never really had problems. Not real problems. At worst I had minor annoyances.

Count your blessings folks, for most of us are indeed truly blessed. And, if you can, maybe you could find just one more way to share those blessings with those who have lost everything.

My Dh is losing his job today......last week I thought it was going to be awful, but after seeing what occured in NO this week.....
we have our family/health/home and there are job opportunities in our area.....we are blessed!!

Thanks for the reminder. My job is not completely stable right now, and I am not sure if I will still have it in a couple of months. However, I know even if I lose it I will have a roof over my head and food to eat. I am so thankful for that knowledge and so sad for those who can't say the same.

Thanks for starting this thread, Hound. It really makes you think about how good you have it and there are others that have nothing but the clothes on their back. I have a truck, a house, healthy kids, a toilet....others don't. I pray that things start turning around for them and they are able to get back on their feet. Hugs...

This is kind of weird way for the disaster to make me feel thankful, but looking at all that has happened has given me a look at what it will be like here in my state when our "big one" happens. It will happen. I have seen the good and the bad. Those around me have finally seen WHY we need to be prepared to care for ourselves when a disaster hits. I have seen the ugly behavior some people will exhibit in desperation. I have seen the outpouring of support that we will feel from around the world and especially from around our country.

It's an odd way to feel... like you're looking at your own very possible future. One day it may be me sitting amongst the rubble of what used to be my home. I'm glad to know that our nation will know what to do. We will have learned so much from this tragic experience.

I've made my own little donation to the Red Cross. It's not much, but it will help someone. I'm so glad there are so many people, corporations and countries so willing to donate. I'm so glad that we all have been so moved by this disaster. It will help us all remember how to help each other... in good times and bad. For now, I wil be thankful for all I have.
