….people have stopped saying “you’re going to Disney AGAIN??” and are now asking, “so…when is your next Disney trip?”

I love it! :teeth:

DH and I used to be so embarrassed that we would have so many trips. Now I just put in the vacation, mark it on the calendar and know that everyone figures we practically live there anyway, so what’s the big deal?

So for you frequent fliers...what reactions do you get?

Your going to disney again? Aren't your kids to old, aren't they bored there?
In fact my 19 and 15 year old LOVE it at Disney and choose to return over a cruise.

i also recently graduated from "you're going to disney again?" to "when is your next disney trip?" what a great feeling! :donald: :donald:

I use to get the DIDN"T YOU JUST GET BACK well yea thats why I have to go again.

I was talking to a few cousins the other day (different times ) and the first overheard me talking to the second about my Dec trip .She started to laugh and said OH MY I just told my mom you were going in June .I said thats OK we are but we're going in Dec as well.

I get:
"But you've no children" (What? You wouldn't say "You're black" or "you're gay")
"You go alone?" (Why, would YOU like to come?)
"But you've been before" (And if I pay this much money, I want to know I'll enjoy it)
"Don't you want to go somewhere and lie on a beach" (I'm a fat redhead, what do you think?)
"Don't you want to go somewhere different?" (Yes every couple of years I go to California instead-can you guess why?)
And my personal fave "If you want to go to Disney, why not go to Paris?" (Lets see, tropical weather or miserable rain. And lets not get started on the cultural differences between the 2)

I'm not sure if this is a peculiarly British thing-I work on a section with 16 other people and only 2 have ever been to WDW, only one of whom actually enjoyed it and understands my passion.

I went with my dad yesterday while he bought a new car. When the salesman commented on the low milage on his trade in my dad told him, "My daughter has been driving it. The only place it ever goes is to take my daughters and wife to Orlando." :rotfl:

It has always bothered me that people just don't "get it". The questions got to be old and always the same as what others have said here. But now I don't have these stupid questions anymore. Wanna know why....GRANDCHILDREN!!!!!! :thumbsup2 :rotfl: :rotfl: :lmao:

Unfortunately we're WAY far away from graduating. It's so annoying, and like the OP mentioned we get emarrassed about even mentioning it. Yesterday, I was at a classmate's birthday party with my DD6 and the Moms were swapping "where are you going for summer vacation" stories. I remained as quiet as possible hoping they'd skip me...and then my DD6 got all excited and said "We're going to Disney!!". They sighed, rolled their eyes, and did the typical "what a waste of money that place is". UGGHH...three of the four Moms had never even been to WDW...that really gets me! Whatever - my family is happy, I have wonderful DDs that are expert travelers and I work very hard for my $$, so it's mine to "waste" as I see fit!

So, PLEASE...tell me more stories of how long it takes to get to this graduation point!!

I've graduated and I love it when I can answer the question of when are you going next time with: 2 weeks. :woohoo:

We get:

"HOW many times does this make??"
"I would never pay that much for an amusement park" (Neither would I, thats why we go to Disney :) )
"There's NO WHERE else you would rather see??" Of course there is,that's why we try to take two vacations/year (but sometimes we end up back at Disney :teeth: )
"Why do you keep going back" (Why do I keep eating chocolate - because I like it!)

DH and I were just talking about why we don't tell where we are going unless asked. There's nothing shameful in going so much, but it is expensive and we don't want to make others feel bad if they can't afford it. But we work, we save our money and it's something we both enjoy and our dd is just as hooked. So we don't yell it from rooftops or airdrop flyers that we are going AGAIN but if someone asks, we will tell them. And usually just smile and nod during their comments.

Some people get it; some don't. Laying on the beach in the hot sun is not my cup of tea but I know people who go to the same beach every year. Just personal preference.

Yep, we hear it all the time. Our friends/family that don't understand our love for WDW question why we go there every year. Our friends/family who share, or at least understand, our love for WDW question why we stay at the Poly every year. And our friends/family that understand why we stay at the Poly every year think we're nuts for spending so much to stay LV Concierge! I guess we're the only ones who "get" our love for WDW. And you know what?.....that's all that matters!

Now that you mention it, people are starting to say the same thing to us more often: "When are you going back to Disney."

Here's one that we get. "You don't have any kids, why do you go to Disney?" Or, here's a good one I got from a co-worker a long time ago: "You need to broaden your horizons." I said, "I did, I rode it three times."

I'd like to start a thread - I want to know how many people out there don't have kids but go anyway.

I get the look from DMIL all the time. Sometimes with a comment like: But, there's so much to see in the world, why not try someplace new? Go to Europe! I'll babysit the kids...

Nahhh, I'm not in the Europe stage yet. I keep telling them, if you've never been, you'll never understand. And if you're not a big kid at heart, you'll never get it either...

I had never been to WDW until spring break 2004 when my son's high school band marched down mainsteet at MK. I only stayed for 4 days but I was HOOKED.

We went last June to celebrate my ds becoming a senior and I said "Who knows when we will be all together for a family vacation again." Well my dd did because when we came home she started planning her senior "family trip" for June 07 and she goes with the band spring break April 08. My ds will be in college but informs me I'm not going to WDW with out him.

All the other teachers at my school just look at me and shake their heads except one who looks at me with a sly smile and says "Gotch ya, welcome to the club!"

How about those that do have KIDS and GO WITHOUT them.
I get that when I go for business or to play paintball and still go to the parks.

They ask is DD going and I give them the big NO shes got school.

We have two distinct sets of friends/family. Those that get it and those that don't. The ones that get it always ask "when's your next trip"? They don't even ask where we're going because they know. The one's that don't get it say "you're going to Disney again"?

The first group we happily tell (51 days at this point) which typically starts a Disney conversation. Where you staying? You going to ride EE? How long you going for?

The second group we just answer "yes" which usually results in the sigh's, eye rolling etc. This group, we don't care what they think. We work hard for our money and it's where we want to go.

We've gone on vacations to other places since we began our Disney obsession and every time we'll look at each other and say "I'd be having more fun at Disney".

And to answer the question, yes we have kids who go with us to Disney once or twice a year and my wife and I go once or twice a year without the kids. It's the best of both worlds!

I can't WAIT for this day!!! Everyone knows we love Disney, but I've been accused of "denying" DS10 more vacation opportunities!! Whatever.

Me, too...now I hear "When is your next trip?" Of course, it is still said with a touch of sarcasm and a chuckle. But, that is much better than "AGAIN???" Oh yeah, joshsmom, I love the "Don't you think you should take them somewhere else? There are lots of great places they're missing." :confused3

I was in a meeting on Wednesday and an associate that I had not worked with for a cople of monthes asked " When is your next trip?" I was please to respond "Next Saturday" :thumbsup2 It was funny because one of the guys that she shares an office with laughs and says " I quit asking, I just assme that's where she is when she is on vacation". Of course he is one of the "shore" people that spend two weeks at the beach every year. He gets the idea if the favorite vacation spot. :sunny:

Of course when they have Disney questions, they all come asking!! I like to think this is the value added aspect of my vacation, I assist the needy. :rotfl2:
