It has been a long time since I have been here. I have been struggling for a while now, and I have the support behind me and I am ready. A few weeks back I reached out for help to some WISH'ers and I thank them for all of their support!

KathyTx dubbed my renewed efforts as Operation Fresh Start.

Well, today truly will be the first day of that, it is my wedding anniversary and I sense the time has come to change my ways. I love my family, and now it is time to love myself and be the woman, the wife and the mom I was meant to be.

My goals...
#1 Get healthy
#2 declutter my life
#3 pay off our debt and buy a house
#4 the first January after we buy a house run in the WDW 1/2 marathon .... (and perhaps the whole marathon!)

Thanks to all of you who have been there by my side holding my head above water. The WISH board has changed with so many new faces. It will be exciting to be back!

I applaud your attitude. I'm brand new to the WISH group and I say - look forward! Congratulations on your terrific mental outlook and happy anniversary!

I am going to write my thoughts here rather than in an email or PM in case these words just might help someone else along on THEIR journey as well.......

Vija --- I often notice that when you decide to get back on track that you make alot of 'goals' at once. Then if you slip on just one of those goals you feel like a failure and figure that since you failed today you might as well continue along on the cheating path. I think it is okay to look into the distance and have those 4 things to work towards but try not to overwhelm yourself. Just work on one or two goals to get thru this week. If you work on the other things then terrific but if not --- oh well, there will always be tomorrow - but you will be able to end TODAY with a feeling of accomplishment and success.

How about for the rest of this week you just focus on the things we talked about in our email. Walk each day and chart your distance and time. Eat three meals a day [not focusing on your food choices at this point] and one healthy evening snack. If you feel like you just MUST have junk food outside of your three meals and snack then you have agreed to FIRST drink 3 glasses of water and take an extra walk. Then, if you still want the 'splurge' then go ahead and have it. I know that sounds like a big goal but that would be your 'healthy you' goal for the week. Your second goal will be to work on that scrapbook that you need to finish. Don't focus on anything else this week. Just these things. Look at the small picture Vija and you will have a succesful week --- I just KNOW you will!

Hollyann, Thanks for the wishes!

Jody,
You are so right! I thought of you as I was writing out my goals and heard your voice telling me I shouldn't make too many goals! You know me too well!:D I smiled when you mentioned the scrapbook, as it is certainly one of my many projects I need to get done. I will follow your guidance and my healthy goals for this week that you have set forth!

Jody, what amazing advice! Small steps will get you to your destination! It's advice I'll follow as well! Take care!

Hi Vija!! I've missed hearing from you and have often thought about how you are doing. I'm glad to see you're back. Jody has good words of advice- and she's right to boot! She gave me the same advice- I followed it and it has put me on a path to some weight lossa dn better health. It's good you started this befoer you get into the riggers of starting school. I'm excited that you are doing this and would love to knwo how you feel about it once you start. I'm thinking about going back to school myself, but really want (and needed to for health reasons) to focus on my weight first. I'm hoping by oct. or Nov. to either get a job or register for school. Are you scared? I AM!! that's one of the thigns that's holding me back! Anyway- good luck Vija. Pleas epost if you feel discouraged of frustrated or happy- we'll be here for you no matter what!

It's our lovely Latvian princess!

Jody's a very wise woman: baby steps, baby steps, baby steps.

And remember: You don't need to be PERFECT. Just aim to be a *little* better each day!

Vija, it is so nice to see you again. Congratulations on your renewed committment!!! We are here for you whenever you need us!!! Welcome back!!

((((VIJA))))

I'm so proud of you for speaking out! We ARE here for you and Jodi is a very wise friend, and a true friend knows she can share her opinion without breaking that bond. what a lucky gal you are!

I can easily overwhelm myself with things I want to do: paint my daughters room, major clean out of my utility room and crawlspace, finish my scrapbooks ;), clean out my file drawers, on and on. truth be told I just get through each day. if I can spend 15 mins on one task that is great. tomorrow maybe i'll have another 15 mins too. I have learned in my weight loss journey that baby steps really do and WILL add up to finished accomplished goals.

i have also learned in my wise years that there is always tomorrow. just like Kathy said, make each day a little better and soon you 'll be just where you thought you only dreamed of being.

:flower1: :flower1: :flower1: Glad to see you back Vija! Sorry I missed this until, i was out of town last weekend!
