Ever been to the grocery store, get home and realize you forgot ONE item. So the next day, you head back to the store for the ONE item you forgot and end up spending much more money????

Forgot the pound of deli cheese yesterday, so I just headed out to the store and spend $35!!!!! :scared1: ON WHAT?!?!?!

Absolute useless junk. That container of Ben & Jerry's was looking WAY too lonely in that freezer case, HAD to pick up that delish looking lobster roll for lunch, a couple plastic egg shaped trays to display our colored Easter eggs, a magazine, etc.

Why does this happen all time??? LOL

Two weeks ago I got a phone call from my son (sick at school) in the middle of a grocery trip. I paid for what I had in the cart and ran to school. I went back later in the day to finish up. I ended up with two carts of food and paid TWICE as much money as a normal grocery trip.

The good news is I didn't have to grocery shop last week. The whole time, I really thought I was sticking to my list and jsut adding "a few litttle things."

Yesterday, I went in for fat free Parmesan cheese and ricotta for Sunday dinner and I left with Tostitos and salsa for lunch (had stuff home-didn't need it), a bunch of Easter candy to decorate the gingerbread houses that weren't done for Christmas:rolleyes:, and heaven knows what else $52.

I think it happens because we have weaknesses and companies spend millions trying to figure out how to manipulate us into buying. I think the force is stronger with them these days because I never seem able to leave without spending $50. My MIL's answer is to not go, or to send my FIL because it seems men are immune.

I need to stop going to Walmart, the lower prices always seem to make me think I am spending less than I really am so I end up buying more. Every time I leave I look at the receipt thinking there must be a mistake, but it's all right there in black & white:sad2:

I have two words for you: convenience store! Sure, the prices may be higher (although specifically the cheese at White Hen around the corner is only $2.99 a pound), but the overall selection is so small, plus the deli counter is right there when you walk in so you're not tempted by all the other groceries....

That's why I love Peapod by Stop&Shop. I can add groceries to my order until midnight the night before delivery. It really cuts down the impulse buying and is only $4 to deliver so I end up saving money, nevermind time.:goodvibes

Wish we had a convience store like that around here. I mean we have a couple gas stations but none of them sell deli cheese. LOL The closest stores around are the bigger grocery stores.
