I was in the mall this weekend, shopping for dd's birthday present...and I saw Santa, already visiting with children. it's not even Veteran's Day!

I think I saw a sign that said Santa will be at our Mall starting November 18th. That is early enough!

When we went to buy Halloween candy on the 30th, Target was already putting up their Christmas displays.

I went to Pier One the week before Halloween, thinking I'd get a few fall decorations for my house.

There weren't any. It was all Christmas stuff.

I hate it!

Santa arrived at our mall on Friday!!!

What are these people thinking? I don't mind the decorations and music, etc. so much, but Santa??? I think he used to come the day after Thanksgiving when I was little.

Bet,
We experienced the same problem. There is half a shelf of Thanksgiving items in the stores around here.

DD decorates her dorm room and door for each holiday. We had to search to find something for Thanksgiving.:(

The flyers in the Sunday paper irked me.

all the drugstores (ie - CVS/Rite Aid/Walgreens) are already pushing Christmas candy/decor/gifts.

too dang early. I don't even START my christmas shopping until after Thanksgiving...I feel weird doing it early.

Santa around now is too early! I cracked up when I saw decorated stores in the middle of October. I still insist on waiting until after Thanksgiving! (when our oldest DS was little, we waited until after his birthday on Dec.12th, to put up Christmas decorations & the tree.

I noticed it on the Saturday before Halloween. I work in a mall and it looked like the place was just transformed overnight. Christmas music, Santa, all the fake snow displays with the animatronics; everything is already up. I think it is kinda sad. I know I'll get sick of seeing it before Christmas even gets here.

i had the same problem.

I work in a large dept. store in customer service/gift wrap. The last week of Sept. we started getting customers wanting their presents wrapped for Christmas. We finally put up our displays on Oct 29th and have started to wrap for Christmas and Hanukkah. I do believe it's early but I bet if you took a poll you'd find that quite a few people have started their shopping and probably a few that have it completely done!
Our store also hosts a Breakfast with Santa the weekend after Thanksgiving, in August we had calls about buying tickets to that! Some people are just way ahead of the rest of us!

LOL, we just had this discussion at work this morning. We said by next year Santa wil be coming to the mall in his beach trunks before Labor Day weekend.

Most of the early christmas in stores is all about the almighty dollar, I've already seen signs that say, 7 weekends left till christmas. The stores have been pushing it back and back for years now and I do belive that they want the shopping season to start before Thanksgiving.

I know what you mean. I went to the mall yesterday to get some ideas for Christmas presents as I want to try to do most of my shopping early since we are going to Disney before Christmas. I was shocked that Santa was there. That is way too early for me.

My neighbors put out a light up Snowman in thier yard and a obvious Christmas wreath last week right after Halloween. We still have our pumpkin on the porch. I completely understand hanging outside lights while the weather is still nice and we have done that in the past. But just don't turn them on and put out other decorations till Thanksgiving. So far they have not turned on the Snowman. We shall see.

I hate it because by the day after Christmas, everyone is so sick of it, they're ripping down decorations. To me, 1/6 is the end of the season, not 12/31 or 1/1.

Besides, who wants to dust a Christmas decoration anyhow?????

Eek! Way too early for Santa.

I was shopping in my fave dept store the week before Halloween and they had the Christmas swags up already! And the holiday gift---they're actually cool....I think I need to go plunk down $50 at Meier and Frank (a division of the May Company) cause with each $25 purchase you can buy this really nice Mickey Mouse for $15...there's four different Mickey's to choose from and I like two of them a lot. One for each of my boys (I can justify it by giving them to the kids, right? ;) ).

2 of my favorite radio stations here in the Detroit area are playing Christmas music 24/7 thru Christmas!!!!! I had to switch the station!!
