It Can Be Done !!

We were on the Alaska cruise last week and went to the DVC celebration event. The DVC Rep said how it was going to be really hard to get reservations at VGF at 7 months out. Well,,,,,,

i was playing around on the DVC member site last night. I was able to book a 1 bedroom Lake view for first part of April at VGF. Was very excited!!! I have always wanted to stay at GF but haven't, and now i'll be celebrating a very big birthday milestone in a very special place.!!

So, a 7-month reservation can be made!!

I thought they were only allowing non owners to book at the 5 month window. Is that not the case?

For 2014, for non owners, it is a 7 month window. For 2013, it is less.

I think it probably WILL be harder (a LOT harder) once more points have been sold. I imagine they have sold 20-ish percent of the points (think they sold about 12% in the first month or 2) but declared 75% that can be used by DVC. As more points are sold, availability should tighten quite a bit. I imagine things will eventually open up as the "new" factor wears off a bit as has occurred with BLT. Given its small size and location, though, it will probably always be pretty tough to get - especially if you want a studio.

As of the end of July VGF was 12.5 (not sure about the .5, but it was 12) and 75% declared. Booking will be very different one year from now.

I was able to book a studio at the 7 month mark today with no trouble. I had my choice of standard or lake view. It appeared that all categories were available. And....my trip is April 8-13 -- right around Spring break.

Awesome! I am hoping to book it if my resale SSR contract closes in October. This gives me hope!

My problem is that I only want to stay in VGF in December, and I am concerned that even owning there, studios will be hard to come by!
