"All WDW trips must begin and end with MK." That is rule #1 in the unwritten family rude book at our household. So we dutifully and joyfully went to MK on this last full day of our vacation. This was a day I had to learn to just chill a little bit. You see, in my family I am the one who comes up with a plan and we all follow along. I get the three "must-dos" for everyone and then plan accordingly.

The kids really wanted to do the Stitch ride. Iasked them if they were sure they wouldn't rather just spend 20 minutes listening to nails on a chalkboard or subject themselves to Chinese water torture. (j/k) Anyhow, knowing that only one ride chamber was operating for the time being, we headed for Stitch first. No wait -right into the preshow. I went with an open mind, even thogh i hated the ride back in November. Guess what? It was kind of cute! I enjoyed the preshow. The ffects in the ride itslf were enjoyable. Not that I would ride Stitch every time I was in MK, but I now think it deserves its place in MK. We could debate the merits of the attraction and point out its shortcomings, but all in all I think its OK for what it is -a mid level attraction.

We then wen to Fantasyland and rode Teacups. It is a family tradition that the kids and I ride while DW watches. Kids love to spin real fast and see if they can make daddy woozy. Then we visited Ariel, rode IASW, HoP, Pirates, CBJ, and Splash Mountain. Regarding Splash Mountain, I now there has been much talk about it being dirty but I just never seem to notice it that way. It is a thrill for me to ride everytime. We took the train back around to Toontown and walked to Tommorowland. Rode CoP (it broke down and we had to experience one scene twice, but I still love this ride), Buzz, TTA, etc. After lunch we went back to the resort for a swim.

We got back to the park around 5pm. We just kind of wandered around enjoying whatever we wanted. It was nice to just chill and forget about getting this or that done. We rode HM twice, visited Tom Sawyer's Island, etc. About 30 minutes before time for Spectro we found a spot on Main Street just one row back from the curb. DW, who really does not like those mobs at closing time, took DS and headed back to the resort. DD and I stayed to watch Spectro -definitley on of my "must-sees" at MK. The parade was a beautiful and magical as ever. The music lifted my spirits. What a great thing to do as the last thing on a vacation.

The night ended as kind ofa downer thanks to some craaaazy bus service. We waited for a while in the Pop Century bus queue outside MK. I noticed that buses did not seem to be arriving. The line, as you might imagine given the size of PC, was getting enormous. Then three Pop Century buses arrive at once. A might cheer went up from the crowd. The drivers try to park the three buses into the one bus slot at the station. All three buses are loaded and ready to roll. No sooner ar the lights out than do we hear -BANG! Our bus had collided with another of the PC buses :earseek: and was wedged against it in such a way that enither bus could move. Finaly another bus was sent and we were loaded onto that one. It took 2 hours to get from MK to Pop Century via bus that night. Thanks a lot, Disney :wave2: .

Even the fiasco of leaving that night did not spoil the fun of the trip. We rose the next morning for a long but uneventful drive back home. As we dream about our next WDW vacation, my wife and I are resolved to do something we have never done before -GO WITHOUT THE KIDS. :hourglass

If you have read all my reports, I hope you aren't bored to death. Thanks for reading!

Read them all and found them rather enjoyable. Thanks for the reports.

btw, how did you find Pop Century? We are staying there in July.

Pop Century was a really fine resort. I would surely stay there again. It is thoughtfully laid out so that there are no major hikes from rooms to the main building, main pool, or bus stop. The staff was couteous, helpful, and friendly. It is MUCH cleaner than the All Star resorts, and better decorated IMHO. The one drawback, as you probably gathered from my reports, was the food service. There were atrocious lines every time we even thought about eating there. The food court is basically the same as the ones at the AS resorts, but are trying to serve many more people (I may have fuzzy stats, but I think PC is nearly as big as two of the AS resorts combined). I counted 30 people in front of me in line one evening at 7:45pm. I thought to myself "No Way". I am glad we had the option of going off property to eat. It turned out to be quite relaxing both times. The PC food court must be a madhouse during peak season.

I've read them all and enjoyed them. Thanks for taking the time to post. :)

We are leaving for POP in 25 days and are driving from NC too. What area are you guys from and how long does it usually take to drive?

We're from Hickory, NC, and if we push it we can do it in 8. We don't have kids and neither of us stop to use the restroom that often.

Thanks for posting! Enjoyed your trip very much! :wave2:

Kristen :earsgirl: ----> 10 more days til Disney!

We are from Statesville and we are hoping to make it in 10 hours. We have a 9 yr old DD so hopefully we won't have to stop too often.

Statesville shoould be easily done in less than 10 hours unless you hit Columbia, Jax, or O-town at rush hour

Enjoyed your trip report . I to thought pops food court was quite crowded we arrived one night at 8:30 for a late night dinner and the place was a mad house. WE'll be at the cabins(ft wilderness) in less than three weeks then will be up at my folks place close to you (Burnsville) in July. Thanks for the report.............Karen pirate:
