It’s Not Christmas Till We Visit The Mouse! Dec. 2006

The only loss is of my AP preview reservation for Finding Nemo at AK: I already reserved it for 12/3 and can’t change it. (Sorry Lauralee!) But, we’ll be back and if we don’t see it this trip, we’ll catch it next time.

Awww...that's too bad...that was probably the one day we'd have a chance to meet up. Maybe next time! Have fun! :wave2:

Of course, you know what’s coming next, right? All these changes messed up my ADR plans. No problem at all – I called up with my list in hand, (including back-up times and locations for each request), and…

I GOT THEM ALL!!!
Woo Hoo!!! :woohoo: Sounds like some great choices!

PrincessV said:
The new, complete and final (ish) plan is this:
11/30: drive, dinner @ Boatwright’s, maybe a carriage ride at POR
12/1: MK in the morning, lunch @ Liberty Tree Tavern, evening at DTD with dinner @ Wolfgang Puck Express
12/2: AK, dinner at Boma
12/3: check in at BWI, MGM in the morning, lunch @ Sci Fi, evening at EP
12/4: free morning – maybe a pony ride at FW, MVMCP, dinner at Tony’s
12/5: breakfast @ Spoodles, free morning, evening at MGM
12/6: EP, lunch @ Garden Grill, drive home

I think this is a good one – plenty to do, but plenty of room to make some last minute decisions and changes, too. Enough ADR’s to give Gramma and me a break from transporting and cleaning up after meals, but not so many as to wreak havoc with park touring. A few evenings out, but a good balance of early-to-bed nights, too, to keep Leo performing at his very bestest.

Sounds like you're going to have a blast!! I hope you have lots of pixie dust and magical moments! :santa: Can't wait to hear all about it!

Only 4 business days left  (we don’t count today, Wed. is a half-day, Thurs. and Fri. are holidays, and I’ve got a dentist appt. Mon, so that’s another half day! Ah, the powers of rationalization….) It’s game-on!!!!!!!!
:lmao: I love the way you think! You're a riot!

Don't you just LOVE tweaking the plan?!?
YES!! Waaay, too much, I'm afraid. I've actually locked my spreadsheet to keep myself out of it.

If I don't 'type' to you before you leave, I hope you all have an awesome time WDW!!! I'm sooo looking forward to reading about your adventures when you return!
Thank you so much! :goodvibes

Now, I'm sure I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.....I think I remember you saying that you don't usually take the Disney transportation. Although we found WDW buses quite convenient to MK, EP, and MGM....we did NOT find them to be reliable from POR to AK. The buses don't seem to run very often and they stop at Blizzard Beach on the way. Drive to AK from POR unless you have an hour to spare.
YIKEES! I SO did not know this - thank you, thank you, thank you for telling me! :thumbsup2

Looks like you've got it planned, so that it doesn't look planned to Gramma. ;) :rotfl: You are going to have a great time. I think I am looking forward to your trip as much as you are. I can't wait for the real TR from PrincessV! :hourglass popcorn::

Have a great Thanksgiving!

Aww, thanks so much! I just know we're all going to have a good time :goodvibes
Gramma's so funny - I told her I made some dinign changes and she just said, "Whatever. Just let me know where we're going when it comes time to actually get there." :rotfl2:

I know exactly how you feel. I didn't pack until this morning, and we decided to go three days early and left at 12:00pm CST this afternoon. I am sitting in bed at the Days Inn in Orlando right now. We will be here until Monday morning when we will be transferring to the ASMo resort in WDW.

V!!!
You leave in less than 6 days and there's no update!! I need my pre-TR fix!

Are you packed? Is Leo packed? :bitelip:

Have you been spending your extra time shopping and not dis-ing? Mama needs some reads to hold her over until you return. popcorn::

Of course, I cannot wait to hear the actual TR, I know it'll be great. No pressure or anything! :thumbsup2

Hee hee, oh yeah, I've been packing, alright! read on....

For the record, I like to pack at least 3 weeks prior to a trip. This allows me sufficient time to reassess my “must-have” items and generally whittle away at the ridiculous amount of clothing I initially think I’ll need. :laundy:

That did not happen this year.

Because I know December is always cool, if not downright cold. And it’s been cool around here for weeks, so I’ve had to actually wear most everything I thought I’d need at WDW.

Yesterday, I pulled up the forecast and saw this: highs reaching the low 60’s and lows in the 40’s. So I got to work and packed. I packed jeans. And sweaters. And wool socks. And hats, gloves, and scarves. And wool jackets. And snowpants. Okay, not the snowpants. But everything else was tidily packed into Leo’s and my suitcases as of 7am this morning.

At 8am, I looked at the forecast again.

WHAT??????? It now says highs in the low 80’s everyday, and lows in the 60’s! I know this will incite much joviality among others around here, but I am not thrilled. Aside from the fact that I now have to totally reevaluate every item, locate the T’s and shorts and re-pack, it just feels wrong to enjoy holiday festivities in 80 degree weather. But I will survive and hey – maybe we’ll even get in some pool time, after all! :beach:

Another last minute item turned out to be my daily touring itineraries. I had grand plans for these. Print on card stock, just smaller than index card size. Laminate, hole punch and bind on a ring. Doesn’t it just bring a smile to your DIS OCD face?! :teeth:

I ran out of time.

What I have now are some Excel spreadsheets, printed really small and with many typos. On regular paper. Stuck inside plastic Rolodex sleeves, which are taped shut. Holes are punched, not quite in the same place on each pocket. But they ARE strung on a ring. A much larger ring than is necessary. I’ll say one thing for it: the Rolodex sleeves are colorful and pretty! :artist:

In between fighting a stomach bug, cooking Thanksgiving dinner, and decorating Princess V’s abode for the holidays, I also managed to pack our food bag last weekend. And charge up the camera batteries. And deliver keys and instructions to our neighbors who will check in on the cats and fish.

So that’s it. Two more days of squaring things away at work and school and we are off! Moderators, please feel free to move me to the Trip Reports in Progress section, ‘cause this trip’s about to start!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

LOOK OUT MOUSE, HERE WE COME!!!!! :moped:

Whoo Whooo! I'm first, I'm first!!!

Thanks for the update.... I"m feeling much better now! :smokin:

Well, at least you'll get some great weather. Although I agree you need some kind of chill to make it "seem" more Christmasy and festive!

2 more days! How exciting! I'm so jealous. I did, however get my new 2007 Passporter and my new Unofficial Guide '07! Now I have something to feed my Disney OCD brain, at least until you return and fill my brain with juicy trip bits!

Hope you have a great trippie with Leo and Gramma! I wish you much focking and lot of pixie dust! pixiedust:

Thanks DM!!
I've been trying hard to resist purchasing the new guides - I try to restrict myself to every other year. But I'm jonesin'. How are they? Any new things making it worth a purchase?!

Sounds like you're ready, V!!!! :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

Sorry to hear about the stomach bug...we've had that here, too. :sad2:

Aaahhh, the dangers of packing ahead of time...but hopefully the shorts aren't packed away....inside a Rubbermaid storage tub....in the depths of your basement...like ours are.

And spreadsheets, rolodex sleeves, big ring....again, I don't feel so bad about "the booklet"!! :rotfl2:

HAVE FUN....and don't forget the ALCOHOL....for your mom!

BON VOYAGE, V & LEO!!!! :wave2:

Hope your trip is FANTASTIC with lots of pixiedust:

Don't worry about overpacking - we've been there in December and worn winter coats/gloves and gone swimming in the same week! Take it all!!

V, Leo, and Gramma have a great time!! We can't wait to hear all about it when you get back. :listen: Don't worry about us we'll hold the fort down for ya'. :rolleyes1 Have a great trip and we can't wait to hear about the surprise for Leo. :bounce:

Thank you!! No worries: shorts are in bottom drawers (no basements here - in FL we call them "sinkholes"! :rotfl: ), stomach thing seems to be winding down, and Gramma hit the liquor store Monday :thumbsup2
I think we're in good shape!

Thanks for the pixie dust - I know it'll help! Guess what the forecast was this morning? 80 - 85 each day. Guess what it is now? 80, 82, 77,64, 67, 76. I give up - I'm bringing everything from bathing suits to parkas!

Thank you! There are some great new TR's out there to enjoy while I'm gone, but please, everyone, come back and bring a friend!

:thumbsup2 PrincessV I just actually finished up your September trip report (in one night) and although I want to read the next one now! I most certainly can not avoid the housely duties any longer as I live with a two year old and a cat. But the last trip report was great, my daughter is younger but it gives me an idea! Cant wait to read the new one!
On another note, my family lives in the Tampa Bay area, specifically an Aunt who lives off Keen rd. I saw you had written Largo. I grew up in FL and you are correct about the not actually spending time in the heat, but transferring from AC to AC.
Thanks a bunch and your writing is awesome!!
Have a Foucktastic time on your trip! :sunny:

It's a small world after all...... I'm VERY familiar with Keene! Too funny!
Yep, if I try again in summer, I'll be sure to start doing some walks outdoors a few weeks before we go to get acclimated.

Thanks so much! You know I'll provide a full account of our Holiday Fockering upon my return :rotfl2:
