Issue with website - borrowed points and then crashed

Wondering if anyone has had this issue in the past - the DVC site was acting funky all afternoon but I finally found some availability for our week in August and was booking the room without issue. I successfully borrowed the points and when I clicked to finish the reservation, the site hung and brought me to a page that said they were doing maintenance. When I went back in, the room was unavailable and my points were successfully borrowed into this year. So now I have these borrowed points and no room.

I get that Member Services cannot find me a room but is there even a chance they can move my points back? Everything I have seen says it's final and once they are moved, that's it. Do I just waitlist/stalk and hope I find something?

I had the same thing happening to me a few weeks back. Instead of calling I tried to book another vacation and when I had the room on hold, I canceled and that made my points return to their original Year.

Yesterday was incredibly frustrating for me on the website, too. Don't give up on your reservation -- it may be held for you, which is why it shows unavailable. I just kept trying & eventually got what I wanted.

They hold the room for the 20 minutes it tells you while you're wining on the reservation. If things crash and you go right back in, the room is in a no mans land because it's held for your previous session and doesn't show up for you. I haven't had your exact problem, but when weird things happen I tend to log out to clear that session and clear my cookies then go back on in. Sometimes I still have to wait out the extra time.

Actually, I think it's held for 60 minutes, it just logs you out after 20 minutes of inactivity. When I have trouble for more than 20 minutes, I log in to the website from another window in the same browser, and it's worked for me to keep access to that reservation for more than 20 minutes, potentially up to the full 60. But sheesh, I wish they'd get the site fixed. Twice I cancelled a reservation using the known method of holding a reservation in another browser, and then lost the held reservation due to the site crashing. I got lucky and got the reservation back the third time, but it was a full day of stress!
