I have three restaurants in mind for when we go to WDW on 2/2- 2/6.
I've heard good things about Le Cellier, Ohana's, and Chef Mickey's. I just want to do at least one character meal. But, with my mom coming with us it'll be 3 adults and 2 kids...so I'm looking for great restaurants that have reasonable prices. Should we try and eat of the world? Or should I book the above and do the rest with counter service meals?

May I suggest Restaurant Akershus in Norway when visiting Epcot. Prices for dinner are $18.99 for adults and $7.99 for children. It's a cold buffet AND hot ordered entrees. Here's a review for you: Restaurant Akershus

Happy Planning! :wizard:

Thanks for the recommendation! Do you like Restaurant Marrakesh? Are there any good Mexican restaurants there?

Funny you should mention Restaurant Marrakesh (click for review :D).

As for Mexican, you'll have to get other's opinions. There are two places in Epcot's Mexico: Cantina de San Angel (counter service) and San Angel Inn (sit-down PS restaurant).

Ive eaten at san angel inn a few times...its hit or miss....but the ambience is great

in 95 we hated our meal, this past summer we loved it

marrakesh is our favorite in epcot

I would avoid San Angel Inn. The atmosphere is great but the food and service is not. Poor food quality and very poor service. We never even got our drinks refilled!
We have eaten several times at the Marrakesh and really enjoyed it. Good food, good atmosphere.

Marakesh is great.

Biergarten in Germany is very good also (I know others differ, but we love it). If you go to the Biergarten for a late lunch, say 3:00 or so, the buffet price is around $15/adult and $8-10/child and you'll have enough food that you won't have to eat the rest of the day.

LeCellier is our favorite restaurant at WDW, but if your family likes Filet's like mine does, it's not a cheap meal by any stretch.

Just my opinions.

We love Marrakesh -- it's probably my favorite World Showcase restaurant.

You can save some $ by eating lunch instead of dinner at Le Cellier and a character breakfast instead of dinner. Can't do much about O'hana since only dinner is served there -- lots of people love it, but it's one of the two or three restaurants we've never returned to.

Oh, and Marrakesh is MUCH cheaper at lunch.

I think the best sit-down value anywhere is Trails End. Not only is it a buffet, breakfast, lunch and dinner, but it's also the cheapest around at only 9.99/adult for lunch.

Also for a budget character meal, the Ice Cream Social at the Garden Grill at Epcot is a great place to go. It's in the afternoon around 3pm, ice cream sundae (huge one at that) is 6.95 each and you get to see Farmer Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale.

As for Le Cellier, you could go nice and budget if you just get a bowl of cheddar cheese soup. The soup plus the pretzel bread they give you is definitely a good deal and will definitely fill you up.

Have you looked into getting some Q&C or VKL vouchers? They could save you a good deal of money you know.

I was waiting for someone to mention this. :)

It's gone up $1 (it's now $10.99 at bfast/lunch and $16.99 for dinner) but it's still the best buy at WDW - especially for breakfast/lunch.

I don't care for the "specialty" buffets - like at Morocco, or Boma - I'm just a picky eater that would rather eat a lot of one thing I like than try a half-dozen different dishes. I'm just boring when it comes to food. ;) That's why I like Trails End - they have a lot of "down home", "normal" food.

My best tip is to make a PS for the last breakfast seating on a morning when you'll go to EMH at the MK. This way you will leave the park when it's starting to get busy, and have a nice sit-down meal - that's if your family likes breakfast food later in the morning.

Make sure you check out the menus over at AllEars - there are tons of buffets and most have their own "flavor".

I have to mention the most not talked about great place and that is Boatwright's at POR. The food is excellent as is the atmosphere. It is a must each time we go.

We have never had bad service or bad food at San Angel Inn. I have to say that we have only been there 3 or 4 times and that is probably much less than many on this board. I have to say for a reasonably-priced meal with good service, food and atmosphere, we like Mama Melrose's at MGM. It is not expensive, the food is great and doesn't ever seem to be crowded.

I second Mama Melrose although we like it better for lunch as it is so quiet and peaceful then.

Kona Cafe and Grand Floridian Cafe are two nice spots with reasonable prices for WDW.

I think your choices look good for variety and choice. We love Ohana's. CM is not our favorite but it is fun and the food ok. Trails end is also one of our favorite places to eat. I do not consider it "nice sit down", but it is an awsome buffet with great food and service. We too like San Angle Inn but if you are limited to three it would not be my pick. Also note that we have found that by smart ordering, we can eat at a sit down almost as cheap as conuter service. Share meals, order starters as meals, drink water and skip or all share a desert. We get tired of counter service quick. We also do breakfast and snacks in the room to save that money for meals we really want to eat. Visit the budget board for other great ways to cut dinning cost!

Enjoy the eating.

I'm sorry. I looked for the abbreviations and couldn't find them. In the post title what is "ISO" and while we're at it does anyone know what "IPO" is in regards to concierge?

Thanks
Shelly
