My recipes i have tried always turn out too tough, and i want a really light and crispy recipe that doesn't weight a tonne when done . :goodvibes
I just got a Mickey waffle machine and my kids are so disappointed with the results. ;)
 
Try adding a little sour cream and a bit of baking soda to the basic recipe that came with your Mickey waffle iron. Or substitute buttermilk for some or all of the milk in the recipe, but be sure to add some baking soda (I think I use about 1/2 - 3/4 tsp) to that as well. The reaction of the baking soda and sour cream or buttermilk makes them very light and fluffy. (Think back to elementary school science class when you mixed vinegar and baking soda...;) ) You need to use the batter right away, though, because the reaction kind of fizzles out if it sits too long. :coffee:
 
forget making them from scratch and get the Krusteaz belgian waffle mix. Makes perfectly crispy waffles every time! :thumbsup2

If not, then make sure the recipe you are using has oil in it. The biggest difference, I think, between pancake and waffle recipes is the addition of oil. Butter won't make the waffles as crispy as oil.
