Isn't anybody going to post about the gift?

We didn't receive a gift and we have done 2 trips and have 2 more booked. I also don't get the emails. Not sure why we can't seem to get Insider status. We are in VA.

I didn't get anything yet either here in Texas. We had our first ABD in June. I've even friends with our guides on Facebook. :(
You shouldn't have to, but have you tried either calling ABD or signing up at the website?

Canadians who have travelled with ABD don't even get to sign up. It's only open to Americans.
My understanding is it has something to do with customs to mail things like that out of the country. I know they've had a dickens of a time in the past just getting "the box" to folks in Canada. Not that I think they shouldn't still do it, but I guess it was just too much of a hassle.

This is the line that ABD gives its Canadian guests when you contact them...however, I received my annual passholder giftbox in Canada without any hassles (I think it was the promotion in 2013-2014). Everything in the box was promotional items with ABD on it and the customs declaration indicated that it was promotional material. I have also received other items from ABD with no problems. I think ABD just doesn't want to deal with having to complete the customs declaration forms and the excessive mailing costs to Canada.

You are an Insider once you've traveled with ABD! Just fill out that form to start receiving your surprises!

Stephanie is one of the Adventure Guides. She was our guide in Germany. We found her to be a real sweetheart. Loved her stories about growing up in Germany. We have kept in touch & she holds a special place in our hearts!

Should one of my family members join, or all of us?

Never had Stephanie... but all our guides have been super.

Stephane is probably the best adventure guide ever ..
That is your opinion I however think she sucks and hopefully never have to endure her as an adventue guide again. Dusty is probably the best adventure guide ever

We never had Stephanie as a guide, but I can say that sometimes guides deliver inconsistent performance. We thought our Scotland guides were terrible. My husband thought they were so bad (for the price we paid for the trip) that he refuses to go on a non-podcast-related adventure. Since our tour, we've heard nothing but praise about one of the guides. (Never heard anything else about the other.) We were their last tour before a much-needed break after many back-to-back adventures during the Scotland tour's inaugural year. I think they were burned out. Just posting this to agree with Tozzie that, yes, sometimes guides provide less-than-stellar service.

I think this is very true. The Adventure Guides are people, stuff happens, they are not always fabulous. Mostly they are, but not all the time. On my Alaska ABD, it was obvious that one of the Guides, Rae, did not respect the other Guide, Jesse. Who knows why that was. I think that on their own, they were probably both great guides, but the atmosphere caused by the lack of respect & chemistry definitely made them both less than stellar in this particular instance. I still loved the ABD, it was a wonderful trip, but the Guides themselves were not the outstanding part of the trip like they've been with my other ABDs. But that's definitely been the exception, not the rule.

Never had Stephanie as a guide. Was your trip the one with Hanneke and I forget but I think Claudia was the name of the other guide? We had Hanneke and Zoe on our Scotland trip and found both her and Zoey to be wonderful and amazing guides. I never did hear about the other guide on that June ABD again so maybe she decided being an ABD guide wasn't for her. Since then we had Hanni on our San Francisco ABD and she was just as awesome. We also had Zoe again on our New York ABD and she was just as awesomesauce as before. I am hoping they will be some of our guides on the ABD DVC River Cruise. Both of them have done the Winter in Wyoming ABD and we have our fingers crossed to have them on ours later this year. We adore them both and would happily adventure away with them any day.

We just had Dusty on our Copenhagen pre-cruise trip. We thought he was wonderful and I am hoping he will also be one of the guides on the River Cruise.

Never received this gift. We used to get gifts fairly often as Insiders, but haven't any time recently. We've got another trip booked for 2016, so maybe we'll move back up the list!

Wow. Hate to think what happened on your adventure. I have gotten to know Stephanie and she is knowledgeable, informative, organized, and witty. She is extremely well traveled and has many stories to share about her different trips around the world.

Again, everyone is entitled to his/her opinion, but to say "she sucks" is very harsh.
