Is your bedroom restful?

Is your bedroom restful?

  • My bedroom is clutter free and beautiful

  • Are you kidding? It's the only place I have for storage or workspace, etc

  • I need to clean and freshen it a bit, thanks for the reminder

  • I never really thought about it

  • Who rests and sleeps in the bedroom ;-)

Right now, mine is not. The paint is old and clutter has accumulated. Instead of it being relaxing, now it's driving me crazy.

Thinking about how important it is when life gets so stressful to have a nice place to relax and sleep.

Time to get cracking on cleaning, reorganizing and painting, etc. Anyone else?

No, it's not. That's my project for after the holidays, though. It's got great potential: It's large - still have plenty of room with king size bed, fish tank on stand, large chair, two dressers, a tv on stand, and two bedside tables, it has two nice windows that let in a lot of light, it's pretty sound proof, has a small, but cute attached bathroom, and I have quite a bit newish things to decorate it.

I voted a, my br is clutter free and restful:love:.

now if I can only manage to get a wink of sleep in it is the hard part:eek::sad2:

I voted clutter free and beautiful. I love our bedroom - it is my sanctuary. I try to keep fresh flowers, candles, nice linens, etc. in there all the time. :cloud9:

We're in the middle of 2 bathroom remodels....(one big/one not so).

As soon as these are done, it's onto re-doing my bedroom! Time for a new mattress, fresh paint and a deep cleaing and removal of tons of old clothes, shoes and "stuff". I'm really looking forward to doing this because, right now, my bedroom is a disaster area. Thank God for doors.

BTW, next time I decide to do work to the house, will someone remind me what a freakin' nightmare it can be if you schedule it for the weeks prior to a major holiday? I've procrastinated putting out all my decorations because I didn't realize (!!!!) what a mess tile cutting can be when done indoors.
Last time I had tile work done it was summer and they cut the tile outside.
This time it's in my attached garage area and I have a layer of dust EVERYWHERE. :headache:

Our bedroom is great, but the only thought I put into making it restful was in deciding to NOT install a TV in the room. I read every night before going to sleep. I have never had problems sleeping.

Ours was dreary, cluttered, left much to the imagination and had our original full BRoom set ! Soon to be two years, we decided to spice up our life and revamped our master BR including a light oak queen sleigh bedroom set :goodvibes. We enjoy cruising when finances allow, so we did the walls in what we consider a tranquil Caribbean ocean blue, w/a bed cover of multiple blues/greens, curtains are large palm trees pattern w/illusion of looking out of window, have all beach scene/ocean photos, lots of shell accessories, a palm plant, a palm leaf ceiling fan, a big shell full of Ocean Breeze potpourri and lamps are of rattan type. We love and can relax in our little haven and honestly have never had desire for a TV in our bedroom. :lovestruc

I voted clutter free and beautiful however that is overstating it bit much.;)

I would call it clutter free and decent. "Beautiful" to me means "Pottery Barn" and I am not quite there yet.

I need new bedding & paint on the walls.

Not right now! We openec our gifts this morning and set up DS10s new drum set in our room! Normally its pretty restful.

It's beautiful and restful now....and as of yesterday. DH has been after me for sometime to "redo" our bedroom. I'm still now quite sure why, so I did and it's a surprise for him when he comes home on Wednesday for the holidays. We moved into the house a year and a half ago, so it's been freshly painted and recarpeted, but I bought all new bedding, including NICE, not cheap pillows (what a difference), bought new wall decor, new window treatments, new decor for the armoire (sp?), etc. My parents were here yesterday so they helped me put it all together. I can't WAIT for him to get home Wednesday to see it  Now if I could just convince him to surprise me with a complete bathroom renovation.........

I don't like having a tv in the bedroom, but my husband does. Really, though, it's very rarely watched. Mostly it gets used if our little one is sick and needs to stay in bed and rest.

How fun! Do you have pictures?

Love my bedroom - it is the one room in the house that I demand that DH not leave his crap all over. He is a total clutter bug and I lived with it for years and still do except in the bedroom.

Several years ago we finally did our room, after years of the budget going to the kids or the family areas of the house.

2 walls are a deep red the other 2 crisp white. The bed is a wrought iron olympic queen canopy with the dreamiest pillow top mattress on the planet. The bedding is white, lots of clean crisp looking linens, down comforters, white blinds and deep red and green curtains. There are fans in the corners to provide circulation and a bit of white noise as needed. We do have a tv but it has headphones. I'm a reader and DH likes tv.

I use the battery candles and we have them everywhere along with wrought iron accessories throughout the bed/bath.
The attached master bath has been redone with a warm colored tile floor, red throw rugs, more candles and totally decluttered.

You didn't have my answer so I didn't vote. But my answer would be "Yes".

Our bedroom isn't clutter free, but it's decorated, appropriately heated and functional enough to be very restful. Of course, DH is blessed in a way that he can sleep anywhere, including a cold car in a parking lot while I'm out shopping  but I've always found our bedroom to be a sanctuary. DH doesn't seem to care one way or the other.

I'm never awake in there for more than a few minutes, so I guess it's restful.:)

My room needs tidying and the Christmas prep stuff to be put away.

But when clean it is nice and peaceful. I planned for that after having a clutter mess in my old home.

Walls are a nice shade of blue and I have an ocean painting on the wall. :) Needs some finishing touches though.

It used to be. I have very luxurious custom bedding, beautiful art, big rice carved bed, sitting room with beautiful library chairs, etc. Then I got dogs. Now my beautiful bedroom stuff is in storage.

My room has what I call comfortable clutter. I might have a stack of books and maybe a few favorite dvd's by the TV. I also have a few items that need mending in one corner and my robe on the bed. Otherwise the bedding is good and the furniture is fine. It might need dusting though....

Mine is usually pretty restful but it is a little cluttered at the moment. I need to straighten it up because I let it get bad over finals and with people coming over Christmas Eve the younger ones will want to hang out there.

Normally my bedroom is an oasis of calm and peace BUT before Christmas, it's my staging area. I have boxes stacked in the corner, wrapping paper in the chair and my closet is so full, I have to leave the doors open. Soon it will be back to normal and I am looking forward to it!!!
