Is WOC worth it?

This a tough one...it captures the magic of Disney but at the same time, the viewing experience can be so easily ruined due to the people around you.

I have a couple small children and their views can be easily obstructed even when you plan well ahead of time and try to get that optimal position.

Like another poster mentioned, the sea of cell phone screens lighting up the area in front of you doesn't help.

I'm honestly often frustrated because the back half of DCA completely shuts down for this. Thank goodness they don't shut down New Orleans square for Fantasmic.

There are so very few "great" places to view this from and at the end of the day, possibly tired and frustrated from trying to get that perfect spot, it often ends in disappointment. I fought the battle once, got the fast passes, got there early, and still the entire family left that evening making jokes such as "World of Boring Water Sprinklers". We wanted to like it, and we usually drink the Disney-flavored koolaid no matter what the event is, but this one really has the potential to end up as a major disappointment.

I got the picnic meal, which is much cheaper than the other dining package. If you don't have to be right up front, and you don't go during busy season, you shouldn't have to wait for hours unless you have a large group.

DH affectionately refers to it as the 'World of Standing and Waiting'. And that's exactly what we did both times we attempted it...we stood, we waited, and we couldn't see a thing!! :sad2:

I think it really depends on the spot you end up standing in to watch it, and the view you get. We saw it for the first time last summer. It was a bit of a mad house getting down in front, but we managed to. It was absolutely worth it though. I had also seen it online, but that doesn't compare to in person. It was breath taking for sure. I don't think you'll regret it.

We are planning on seeing it again in a few weeks. We'll be going also with my Mother and my brother who is in a wheel chair. We'll be doing the dining package in hopes that may make things a bit easier. But I'm not sure where and how good of a spot we can get in the handicapped area. I can't wait for them to see it though.

For us it is worth it. Our first night we got OK views, so the second night we just made sure we were there a bit earlier and got a better spot. It is worth seeing at least once.

WOC is the most awesome show and totally unique. But the viewing experience is marginal and that detracts for many people - which is totally understandable. When seen from a good spot it really impresses most people. But Disney did not live up to its reputation when it created a viewing area which just does not work very well. Rumors are that Disney is going to change it sometime within the next year.

Bottom line is if you have at least 2 days at the parks and are willing to arrive early and wait in line before the show in order to get to one of the better spots, WOC is worth it. Otherwise, probably not.

WOC In my honest opinion was INCREDIBLE! I have purchased a dining package at Ariels and had prime viewing location that comes with the meal package. However I dont think I would ever want to see the show any other way again. I like having the view I had rather then gambling by grabbing a fast pass ticket and hoping I am in the right color section that gives best view.

Quite honestly even if you dont use the Dinner package or even a picnic package I think that everyone should see the show once. You wont be wasting your time. Just read personal experience stories here on Dis and also make sure you do some research about the best locations for the best viewing and when you should arrive to get a good viewing spot. I know there are better viewing areas then other or the projections can be a bit off, or if you are in the splash zone you will get SOAKED or if your not dressed properly in the right weather you will get cold. Everyone has their own personal experience about location or waiting for the show which can help you plan your own experience properly, but if we are talking about the show itself well... Its pretty great.
