We have never stayed at WL and we have never stayed at a value. We are booked at the WL but with the Visa discount we could save over $1000 dollars if we go to a value. I know you aren't in the room that much but we will be there when the Xmas decorations are up and I hear the WL is BEAUTIFUL!!!! Plus Ive seen the cattle stampede :scared: for the buses for the values at night. There always seemed to be huge lines for them. HELP ME DECIDE!:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

We love the WL. It's our favorite, but we're having the same dilemma. We're thinking we might try the values, just to be sure. But to answer you're original question, It's totally worth it. the transportation is awesome, the ambiance is great.

Thats what I keep hearing. I am thrilled with the boat to MK. I want to say just go for it, its only money:rolleyes: but $1000+ is a whole lot of souvenirs!!! :woohoo:

My Dh and I will be staying at the WL next week for the first time. We did visit in December when we were there and it is beautiful. Not to be missed during that time. We have stayed at Pop Century and really like it, I didn't think the rooms there were too bad, but we stayed at AS Movies in June and was not impressed at all. The beds were so high off the floor, I had to jump to get in them and I am 5'5, and the bathrooms seemed quite small. I won't stay at the All Stars resort again unless I can possibly get a Family Suite. We never had a problem with the buses at the Value resorts. The only place we had trouble with the buses was when we stayed at Ft. Wilderness. HTH!

Tracy, forget the souveniers and stay at the WL!!! You won't regret it.

We'll also be there in December.

The WL is absolutely worth it! We've stayed at a value and we've stayed at WL...no comparison, IMO. The resort is stunning and so relaxing.

We've stayed at the CBR two years in a row and during our other 10 vists, we stayed offsite. When planning our 2008 trip, we knew we wanted to stay somewhere else and the moderates were within our budget. The CSR didn't appeal to us so we decided to go with one of the Port Orleans resorts.

While looking around at the accommodations over at www.allearsnet.com, I decided, what the heck, click on Wilderness Lodge. I have always wanted to stay there. The pictures were stunning and I wanted to book a stay there sooooo bad.

I immediately went to the Disney World website. Oh my gosh! $1,000.00 more than the CBR! I posted a thread here on the boards asking if it was really worth it. Some said yes. Some said just stick with a moderate.

I went back to looking at Port Orleans but I just couldn't keep myself from looking at the Wilderness Lodge pictures, reading the reviews, etc.

My husband looked at the pictures a week or so later and said "just book it". So, I did. Mind you, we had to book a standard view room but we're staying at the Wilderness Lodge for 10 days in June, 2008.

I am counting down the days already!

I WANT to stay at WL for Feb. for my 50th BD, but it will cost me OVER 1,000 for a standard room!:scared1: WOW! So, I am debating whether to switch to POFQ, however, I know a Fl. Resident code will be out, so, I am still hoping for WL and hope to save about $200.00.:confused3 COME ON CODES!!!!!:hourglass

Thats what I keep saying--COME ON CODES!-- I got the e-mail code from my parents(why they got it is a mystery) but I wasn't allowed to use it unless they were coming with us and I have a Disney Visa but WL is sold out our week so they aren't giving discounts there. I am almost out of code hope! But you all are making me feel not so guilty about staying at WL code or not. I cant wait! We can stay at the values next time, right?:thumbsup2

I want to stay here so bad, it's going to be tough for me to ignore the cheap prices at the values.

My husband is on his way home right now from Yellowstone National Park, and he just kept gushing to me about how beautiful the lodge there is, and I'm sick with jealousy that I could not go. :) I love the theming at the Wilderness Lodge, and this trip will be celebrating our 25th anniversary, so we need to do it up right.

So I'll be trying to capture a little bit of that western feeling when we go in Feb., and he can re-live it! (Not to mention, if he got to go to Yellowstone, I get to pick the hotel, right? Right! :goodvibes )

I just will have to plug my ears and chant "I'm not listening," when the lure of the cheaper values starts making me re-think my decision-and I know that lure is really tough to ignore!

All I've got to say is - I WANT YOUR ROOM at the WL!

I had originally booked a courtyard view room for the same dates you currently hold. In a moment of fear, I decided that we couldn't afford a courtyard view and rebooked a standard view for 5 night instead of the original 7 (checking out on Nov. 30). Now, I'm trying desperately to add the weekend back to the reservation at the standard view price, but I've been at it for months, with absolutely no luck. :headache: SO.......

If you do decide to switch, I WANT YOUR ROOM! :) :flower3:

Edited to add: We'll I'm doing better now. I was just now able to rebook 6 nights of the 7 I'd really like to have at the WL. I had to book a courtyard view again, but this time it was with the Disney VISA discount, so that helped. Now I just need to keep trying to obtain that final night. Of course, if you'd still like to give me YOUR room, that would cost even less! LOL ;) :joker:

Maybe for a small fee.........:rotfl:

Well I just tried to see what the difference would be if we switched to POFQ which was my second choice after WL and they are totally booked too. So No more guilt. I guess we are forced into staying at WL.:thumbsup2 :dance3: :thumbsup2

You will LOVE IT!!!! It's way better than any souvenir.

:snooty: I suppose this now means that I'll just have to forgive you for not giving me your room. ;) Besides....I now have 6 of the 7 nights we'll stay on Disney property in a WL courtyard room with the Disney Visa code. :woohoo: I will keep trying to add that last night, but if I don't get it, it's okay.:thumbsup2 (The last day/night of our WDW stay will be spent doing laundry and getting ready to depart on our cruise, so CBR's laundry room will probably be better for this anyway. :laundy:)

You will be there when we are aren't you? Nov 25? I'm glad you got to use the code. Did they give you a good rate? Now I 'm jealous of you... I'll trade ya my room for your cruise!!!!

Yes, we are checking in on the 25th also.:woohoo: I'm just positively giddy about it. DH & I have loved the WL since we first laid eyes on it in 1998.

We did receive a decent rate with Disney Visa. It was slightly more than we were paying nightly for the standard room at rack rate, but still good enough not to let it get away. The new package total is $2996 for 6 nights courtyard view (2 queen beds), 7-day park hoppers and dining for 2 adults and 1 junior (age 11). The standard view package at rack rate would have cost us $2948 for 6 nights. IMO, it was well worth the additional $48.

Keep your little hands off my cruise! ;) (Just joking!) This will be a first for us --- but hopefully there will be many more to come. Actually, we got a good deal on the cruise too. We will be onboard the Wonder at the same time as the Mousefest folks, so I used their TA to book our cruise. I received a discounted rate plus a shipboard credit of $100. We're not participating in the Mousefest stuff, but we do have them to thank for our special savings.

"Is the WL worth it" ? ? ?

Is Mickey a mouse ? ? ? :mickeyjum

Is Donald a duck ? ? ? :donald:

Stay there if you possibly can! It is fabulous!

And whatever you do, BE SURE TO ASK FOR KETCHUP AT WHISPERING CANYON CAFE!!! (Hee, hee, hee!)
:rotfl:

We are going to be at WL first time 11/15-11/21!!! We also have the courtyard view with the discount code! I am so excited to be staying somewhere new. This will also be my DH's first ever DW trip!!! I think it will be a great place to stay. The only thing that would make me any happier would be to get bunk beds for my girls age 11 & 3! I'm not getting my hopes up for that one though. Have a great trip!:)

Sounds like you got a better price than we did. We got 7 nts STANDARD, 8 day hoppers, and dining for 2 adults and 1 10 yr old. So when you add the extra day and stuff it's like you got a free room upgrade, If I did the math right, which in my case is questionable:goodvibes So good job! We want to do the cruise too. You'll have to let me know how it was.-----BTW-our rate is $3314.
