Does anyone know if the wifi has been "hooked up" on the Magic?

Not at the moment. The Magic goes into drydock for two weeks in the beginning of October. One of the upgrades supposedly scheduled for drydock is a rollout (completion) of WiFi.

It is my understanding from reading other threads that the infrastructure is in place. Apparently they are close, but are concerned with implementation.

If WiFi becomes availabe then the Internet Cafe and Shutters will lose some revenue so it is a matter of making it feasible and profitable, but I wouldn't be surprised if it is ready to go when the Magic leaves drydock in mid-October.

My DH (a.k.a. the software wizard :wizard: ) will be excited to hear that! Of course...that means we will have to bring the laptop

I am a Computer Consultant that offers Computer Tutoring, PC Support, and Web Application design services - Langdon Online (I hope the Mods don't get too mad at the cheap plug) so I know what you are going through. You could have a lot of fun talking to my wife. :rotfl:

I usually bring my laptop on the cruise mostly as a place to transfer digital photos since Missy, Catherine, and I all have digital cameras. We are cruising over Thanksgiving so I am hopeful I will have another reason to bring the laptop.

Oh, my DS that will be 15 when we cruise in November will be thrilled.
He gets his laptop from school this July and was asking if they had wifi on
the Magic.
I just hope that he actually makes new friends and does some other stuff besides IMing all his buddies.

I can see how Shutters might lose a little income, but I doubt it would be much.

the Internet Cafe on the other hand would not lose income, they might actually increase their income, because you would still have to pay to access their network via WiFi and in some cases they would have WiFi cards and/or laptops for "rent" (like on Carnival).

Yes, that is true. I guess we will just have to wait and see what services become available and how they are charged.
