Is the food at WCC really that good? To be honest the pictures kind of make it look gross. I've already made the ADR, but was wondering, my boyfriend really wants to go there. Any reviews would be helpful.

Both my husband and I liked it very much the last time we ate there. He had the ribs and I had the chicken/pasta dish. The milk shakes are in a class all their own.

I personally found it to be one of the very best meals we have had at WDW. My DS and I had the skillet and thought it was delicious. I wasn't crazy about the salad, but the entree was very tasty and plenty of it. I don't always like ribs but these were very good, I also liked the sausage and potatoes. Some of the others in our party had steak and were very well pleased. I had chocolate cake for dessert and it was wonderful!!! Great food and great fun!! :)

It's not that good. We found the meats greasy and not very well prepared.

Here's a short version of a similar post I made elsewhere. Been twice and won't likely go again. Both times (a la carte once, skillet meal once) the food was very bland and, in the case of the skillet meal, quite greasy. Further, service was spotty the first time and downright poor the second. I shouldn't have to ask for side dishes that accompany the meal (twice), ask for drink refills, ask for napkins, nor have to wave at my server in order to make her stop at my table to give me the check (after having finished my meal 15 mins. prior). Finally, if you advertise the restaurant as being a fun-filled experience, then all the servers should be on roughly the same wavelength in terms of involving their patrons. Neither time did our servers do more than toss a handful of straws on the table (and one of those times it was my wife's birthday). Though not a relentlessly terrible restaurant experience, WCC hasn't shown us enough in two trips to merit another visit anytime soon. But, that's just my view. Good luck! paw:

I always get the skillet and like it very much. But I like regular old American cook-out kinda food, with no frou-frou stuff. :)

I have been seeing a lot of negative comments lately, and I have to say (food aside) our visit last month WAS a little disappointing. Just not as upbeat fun as it always was in the past. Our server stunk, and the ones that were doing fun stuff just weren't as good as I've seen the last few years.

I *could* be that the place is slipping a little, but it is still better than most, in my opinion.

The food is great at Whispering Canyon. The ribs are the best on Disney property. The sides are very good.

Though no birthday was involved, our two experiences were quite the same. I won't be adding this again.

I liked it, the kids loved it, and the wife thought it was just ok. The portions are big and anything with BBQ sauce on it is good with my 2 boys.

WCC is a 'must do' for us. :sunny:
As for recently, we've been once this past Dec & again, this Jan (during the EE preview), both times the service was decent & the food tasty. while our servers weren't super outrageous, they were humourous & fun.
Some servers are more bland, at least that has been our experience at other times, we like both styles, just depends on what we're up for. there's usually enough commotion going on around us that when our server is more quiet, there's always someone else to pity! :teeth: Arrive early for your ADR & request a rowdy server. this inconsistency of server hijinks factor has also been our experience at Prime Time-but some do request a milder wait person if it is a consideration with hesitant youngsters or more quiet adults--
Please note we do WCC at lunches & during the slow times of the year-
We like the food. Have had the skillet, entree salads & chicken sandwich, bottomless milkshakes & chocolate cake & enjoyed all. Salads have been fresh, large & filled with yummy things. In general, we find all WDW food on the bland side, even Epcot. that being said, we still heartily ejoyed the WCC offerings :thumbsup2

I will tell you if you never have been here it is a must do. It was alot of fun, something different. We just got back yesterday and we did this resturaunt as our last meal. Very happy with it. I got the chicken pasta dish and it was pretty spicy. The tortilla banana dessert was the best dessert I had all week. I don't think you will be disappointed. The WL is nice to see also while you are there. Good luck.

I think I'm in the minority here. While the restaurant was fun and the milkshakes were among the best I've tasted.......the food was not great. We decided to not go with the skillet meal as everyone wanted their own meal. My oldest dd had the pork chops and liked them. My dh had the chicken pasta and wasn't crazy about that. My youngest dd and I had the filet which was quick tough for filet mignon.

Chicken Pasta at Whispering Canyon -- yeah I can see that being a little sub-par. To be fair, every restaurant has its signature dishes -- the ones it does especially well. Very few restaurants have a vast, full menu of choices, all of which are equally stellar. I recommend when visiting heavily-themed WDW restaurants that you focus your attention on those dishes that are closest to its stated theme. Those tend to be the best!

We've eaten there several times for both lunch and dinner. We've always found it to be good. DH likes the skillet but I usually get something else--had a great southwestern-style salad when I was there last time-can't remember the exact name. It's fun-try it once and see for yourself. Part of the fun also depends on your waiter-we ate one time and the waiter was just not into it. He was very nice and talked to us about WDW and other issues but he was not into the "show". I don't think that took away from the experience b/c we had already been there for a week and were kind of burned out of the enthusiam that all cast members exhibit--we're from NJ and can't handle THAT much perkiness!- but if you really wanted the full show--he would have not been it. Enjoy!

wcc was a hoot went for my dd birthday they made her ride a stick pony around the lobby :rotfl2:

next time we went everyone had to give one crayon from their table to a table that didn't have any crayons they had about 50 crayons on the table
it was so funny!! :Pinkbounc

It's a tradition with our family - our children have practically grown up at WCC since they've been there every year for the past 10 years! I have come to find the food a little on the heavy side (now that I need to be very careful of what I eat  ), so I usually don't order anything but a cocktail and maybe an appetizer. There's usually plenty on the children's plates for me to get a taste if I want, plus I need to save the money from my adult entree to pay for those killer shakes and/or smoothies the kids think they have to have.

We love WCC. Its one of the best places to eat on property.I have to say though all we ever get there is the skillet meal, so I don't know how the other food there compares to that.

My friend and I went there for lunch one day. It must have been after the dinner rush, (plus it was the week after New years so the parks were rather slow,) and not very much was going on. Our server was not into the hijinks at ALL. Rather disapointed... We both ordered the skillet and the food was decent, but if I ever went back, (which I probably won't,) I would defintely order something off the regular menu. And the server was rather skimpy when it came to getting more food. We both asked for more potatoes and he would bring out a small scoop for us to share. Needless to say he had to make a second trip ;)

That is so weird. We have never experienced anything like that at WCC. Even in the out-of-the-way table we were in last month, we received incredibly attentive service, and generous offers to refill our skillet.

It's fun to read everyone's differing opinions on this restaurant, especially those that say it's the best food on property - I would have to disagree on this one since greasy chicken and ribs aren't our definitions of 'best.'

Won't go back for skillet meal if we return next time we stay at Wilderness Lodge - since there is only one other restaurant at that resort, it's hard not to eat there when at Wilderness.

Happy eating, Tiger
