We noticed Disney is hiring exactly what DH does in Orlando and he is updating his resume to fax in. My question is, has anyone worked for Disney on a corporate level and were/are they a good company to work for? Can anyone give me the inside scoop? ;)

Schwab is most likely going to be transferring DH's department to Phoenix in the next few years and I REALLY don't want to go to Phoenix. I've never been there but the thought depresses me. I'm not a desert person and I just don't think I would be happy there. So, when we got back from Orlando we started casually looking down there and found this opportunity so we would like to at least see what happens. Really curious if Disney is a good company to work for though!

I don't think any Disney employees will be able to answer you unless they only have good things to say. Experience has shown that Disney does monitor these boards and some cast members have lost their jobs because they posted here.

Wow. Just knowing that kind of changes how I would feel about working in Disney. You can't even state your feelings on a message board. Something doesn't seem right with that.

Disney is a major corporation, and is run like all other major corporations. Forbes and Fortune do annual reports on various things, "Best Comanies to Work For", "Best Companies for Working Mothers", "Best Companies for Minorites", etc. Take a look at what they say about working at Disney. Or don't say. 'Nuff said.

Its actually not all that unreasonable a policy. I know my company would not look kindly on me if I went to a board full of people who bought its product and started speaking badly of company management or policies. I expect I would be fired or at least severely reprimanded. Also, Disney is forever trying to control rumors and post on boards like this can contribute to rumors.

Its not a hard and fast rule, there are several cast members that post here. Most of them are very upbeat about the company, and I beleive this is because the honestly like their jobs.

I think whether it's a good company to work for depends on where in the company you'll be working! ::yes::

I don't know a lot of specifics but a friend of mine worked for 7 years as a training coordinator down in WDW. She even won the Partners in Excellence award one year (she has that bronze Mickey and Walt statue :p ) She said after 7 yrs doing what would seem to be a decent paying job down there, she still wasn't making $15 per hour. She moved back to PA 4 yrs ago. Despite the salary, it did sound like a great job! I don't think I would give it up!:teeth:

Thanks all, salary would be a major issue but I guess we will just see what happens. There are probably a large amount of people applying so chances are slim. It would be nifty though!

I used to work with a lady who worked in the Hotel Portion at WDW back in the '80s. She said that she had a great time and only left because she decided to go back to school in Mass for her Masters. Later, she ended up with another company in New England. Her friends were still in the company and I guess one had gone up the ranks. It was funny because her friend had about 150 people under her and she made about the same money as the lady I worked with who had about 20 people under her.

I have 2 really good friends who worked for Disney, but they ended up with other jobs because of the treatment at the hands of Disney. They were really good and didn't bad mouth Disney but there were a few things we learned from their wives. They were more in the management part.

I wonder if things are different at the corporate than they are working at the parks or TDS?
