Is Victoria & Alberts worth the money?

So, I guess dead cow at The Yachtsman Steakhouse is out ;)?

Lol
Dead cow is not out! We will be having dinner there when we arrive. I know my FW will eat there. If it gets to the point that she hates most of the restaurants, I will bring my own chicken so she will eat dinner with me. :jester:

There are other things I'd rather do with that money than 1 meal. I'm not saying don't go to V&A, but you have excellent dining all along cities in the East. I point this out because it was part of my decision-making process in the V&A dilemna. I thought about the cost vs. the value for us. For others it may seem a good value. My dh is not an adventureous eater, so I'm the only one who'd really love the cuisine. He's happier with the diamond bracelet he picked up on sale for me for $300 than a dinner he would think is just O.K. We're happier going to a B&B with jacuzzi tub for a weekend and eating in local restaurants. We'd rather use that money to scuba or take our kids to Sea World in San Antonio over a weekend. If you weigh it against other things, you might find that the dinner at V&A pales in comparison or that it becomes even more important to you. If you find that V&A sounds even more appealing, then do request a chicken dish in advance and have a wonderful, romantic dinner!

My FW and I were debating if we should make PS at Victoria and Alberts. We are both picky eaters. Would it be worth it for us to go?
As much as I love V&A's, I must say .. if you two are REALLY picky eaters, you may not like the choices for dinner there. It *is* definitely a beautiful, romantic, fine dining experience!! But, if you are more "meat and potatoes" type eaters, it might not be "your thing"..

With all fairness to more basic eaters, we are a VERY adventurous couple and we didn't care for the food. It isn't always a case of not liking V and A's because you don't like to experiment with new and interesting cuisine. We found the quality and to a great extent , the preparation of the food(not the food choices) to be subpar. It is a very expensive meal and are our expectations were high, perhaps too high. I believe, I offer the sole dissenting opinion as it seems everyone else loves it. I do have to say that people should probably try it since it is extremely popular and found absolutely wonderful by most DISers. Have a great meal, whichever restaurant you choose. The spirit of Disney and the magic of being with those you care so much for is really what it's all about. If I really enjoy the company, I could eat just about anywhere and feel that' it's special. You're not the only one, Threehearts. For the amount of money they charge, you're entitled to have extraordinarily high expectations. I did. Although it was certainly a good meal, I have had just as good, or better, at a number of restaurants where the bill came to no more than $200, as opposed to V&A's $300.

And, I know alot of people love it, but I found the whole "Victoria" and "Albert" schtick to be out of place at a high class restaurant. This is a serious restaurant- it doesn't need a silly gimmick like that.

Plus, the servers we had seemed stuffy. Classy and professional doesn't have to mean stuffy. I"m sure that's not always the case, but it was my experience.

Good meal- but not $300 good.

licquidsky:

Menu from 5-6-2002 had Spring Chicken with Fresh morels and Fois Gras.

On 9-30-2002, no chicken at all--closest was
Pheasant Roulade.

In looking over my menu collection from 1988 until now, I saw chicken about 1/3 of the time. Other "poultry" was usually duck or pheasant.

I showed my FW the responses last night. Thanks to everyones help, we've decided not to eat at V & A's. :( As much as I think we would like the atmosphere for the night, I don't think there is much we would eat off the menu. At at that price, we shouldn't leave hungry. We did agree on dinner at Narcoossee's. :)

Thanks for the update :). Have a great honeymoon! You'll probably be able to stick your nose into V&A's and take a look when you go to Narcoossee's.
