We are going to WDW in May and booked the three night b/f WDW in Vero.
My DH is now not going so is it worth it for me to do this on my own with my boys 10, 6 and my DD 18 and her BF 18. I just don't know about the drive, etc. We have never been there and wondering if it is worth it?

It really depends what you are looking for. VB is a quiet, slow moving resort. The biggest decision is laying on the beach or at the pool. We love VB and try to go there once every couple of years.

Although there are restaurants on site, many folks go out or cook in their rooms. Grocery stores are a 5 minute drive away.

My suggestion is to try it and check it out. There's a ton of VB lovers out there.

Yes, it is worth it.

We stay at vero beach everytime we go on the dvc member cruise in sept. Its about an hour from port canaveral. Its quiet and relaxing we prefer having our car to get around. Im not sure if your to early to view the giant turtles at night laying eggs. You cant go on beach at night with a light while turtles are there. They have nighttime turtle tours with expert. Its amazing. They are huge. Your supposed to close your curtains at night so light doesnt shine on beach it.

We stayed at Vero for 2 nights before our stay at SSR last year and we loved it :thumbsup2 It is so beautiful and relaxing and so many activities for the kids to do each day. I think it was a great way to start off our Disney vacation and I am actually kind of bummed that we did not book Vero again this year, but time just would not allow it. I don't think you will be disappointed ;)

Absolutely!!!! In May, we went to VB for three days after a weeklong trip to WDW. It was heavenly! We loved it so much that we are doing it again this May. The drive is not bad at all.

Oh it is so worth it!! We were there for the first time this past August and fell in love!! The girls had activities every day (their ages are 7 and 12). The view is astounding and so very relaxing. We purchased some food at the Super Walmart which wasn't far and then grilled it so we would have a quick reheat during the day. We are usually the Disney freaks who go marathon style on our trips so this was a wonderful change for us. We can't wait to go again!

Oh, yes. You can relax and the kids will have alot to do. The 16 year old maybe not as much, but it really is a special place!

Okay I think you have talked me into it. About how long is vero from the orlando airport?

It's almost 2 hours if I remember correctly. Sorry, your DD is 18 I thought 16. In that case, your DD and her and friend will have a great time. have fun!

They have lots and lots of great activities for kids, and the pool is wonderful. It is, as many others have said - a slow paced relaxing place.

If you are going for the beach though, it could be a little bit if a disappointment. The beach is much rougher and less accommodating than say Pensacola Beach (near where we live) - and my toddler daughter got into a tangle with a Portuguese Man of War that made for a very bad night for both her and my husband (toxins transfer by hand contact).

Overall though, we stayed for a week during Spring Break and had a wonderful time.

FWIW, they also have a recreation area with tennis, basketball, volleyball courts, and soccer field, mini-golf, you can rent and ride bikes on the jungle trail. The 18 YOs can rent a jet-ski (not happening, right?) I think the kids and teens really like how close everything is. It is easy to hop back and forth between the pool, beach, room, recreation area. 2 minute walk max.

Vero is lovely resort, and I have enjoyed my vacations there, but if you are looking for something fast-paced or something with nightlife, this is not the place for you. There are great kids activities, and even though the dining is a little limited, I found it to be very good. We've done mostly long weekends, and I'm not sure if I'd like more than that, because I tend to like a little more get up and go on my vacations. The pool slide is excellent, on of my favorites at all the Disney resorts.

My only real complaint, and I'm not sure if they have changed this, is that there is not a lot of shade around the pool. If you tend to burn easily like I do be sure to bring a cover-up!

We absolutely loved Vero Beach. We did a split stay there for 3 days, and wished we had stayed longer. It is a beautiful beach (scenic), but not a big party or commercial stuff going on. The pool is great with a water slide. You can check out games like croquet, bocci, and a few others and play on the lawn at the resort. THey also have the campfire at least one night a week. You have to do chair rental or bring your own.
