We went to VB for the 1st time May 2004 and loved it.

We went back May 2005 and the effect of the hurricanes were still very noticable. The playground near the pool was gone. The enterance to the beach was rather far from the main building. They were still fixing the roof. Not even sure where the campfire was.

We are considering another trip this May 2006, but I was starting to think that if it still wasn't up to shape I would rather just wait and go later. (this would be an extra trip for us, we were just at WDW in Jan 2006.)

So does anyone know? I really would like the playground back, were they planning to rebuild it? What about the boardwalk to the beach and fire pit?

Thanks in advance.

The playground is up and running--new and nicer beach ramp/access is great--firepit is operating regularly--the last beach cottage needing re-roofing was completed about 3 weeks ago.

IMO, it looks wonderful.

The new boardwalk to the beach looks great. I think they are almost done wtih roof repairs.

The interior looks good. They had to redo a little bit of the outer room at Shutters after Wilma a few months ago but that is done, too.

I think they are going to be working on the pool area in March and April.

Everything should be perfect in May. :sunny:

The fire pit is now located on the North side of the building and I think that is permanent.

Thanks, that is just what I wanted to hear. Sounds great. I hope I will be seeing it in person myself this May.

Hi Flordiafam, hope you are all doing well! :wave2:

We're all doing great! It's rainy here today so we're being lazy.

We get over to the resort often to eat and I think it looks wonderful.

We're also talking about spendin some time there in May. We want to go to the Keys but I'm not sure we are going to do that this year.

That is great. I will let you know if we do end up going. (it is looking better, just need to find a good room rate for WDW, and use points for a inn room at VB. (oh and I need to cacth the ding rate when it comes around, but i need to get the other things 1st or DH won't let me book.) :teeth:

How is that new baby? (Kona right?) not so new anymore. Lily is walking, talking and 18 months old already! :goodvibes

Kona is wonderful. She was really sick for a while with Salmonella but she's doing better. She's a fatty-28 pounds.

I've got to get over to the New Mom's thread and say hello.

Sounds like a plan, we would love an update from you. I think Lily is only around 20 pounds now (if that) but she is doing great! :goodvibes
