Is VB Worth a Drive??

My friend and I will be enjoying Free Dining at CSR this September. :goodvibes I always like to schedule time away from the parks. My family and I have driven over to Cocoa Beach, Daytona Beach and Tampa Bay in the past - for like a 1/2 day excursion. I am a DVC owner and I wanted to know if Vero Beach would be worth driving over to see. Is it a full 2 hour drive? That might be the deal breaker. ;)

TIA

Yup...it does take close to 2 hours (unless of course you break the law with speed and don't encounter any contruction! )

VB is "worth" far more than a 1/2 day in most members mind! :)

Oh yes . . . I agree. I just wanted to see the resort and the beach area for a possible future trip, but not too sure my friend would see it that way. ;)

If you take the shortest routes (95+) you can get there in under 2 hours, but it isn't a fun drive IMHO. Even I would be hard pressed to drive 4 hours just to get a look.

LOL... easy 3DK... I actually said "hard pressed". Now, if I knew I could have 3-4 hours with the waves and my boogie board, and a place to shower and dress, I can say with confidence that I would do it. :yay:

I didn't realize I was so obvious. :rolleyes1

The question is what will you do when you arrive?
I'm not sure if there are any pool hopping or beach access privileges for day visitors. I know you will be more than welcome to visit the restaurants and Green Cabin Room, but the pool and beach access are gated.
Perhaps if you call ahead and show your member card at at arrival they will give you a room key for access. :smokin:

We just got back from HHI and when I checked in, the CM gave me the map and said "Now, the beach house is ONLY for registered guests. Nobody can use the beach house unless they have a room key. DVC members can NOT just stop by and take a look around."

It was a little strange. I'm wondering if it was a CM thing, or if there is an issue/problem with DVC members wanting to "visit" the beach facilities. :confused3 :confused3

DVC members are not entitled to use the resort pool facilities unless they are registered guests at Vero. With the gated access, they are quite strict there, too.

If making the drive, I would go ahead and use points to book a studio or Inn room and enjoy the facilities, if not overnight, then for the day. Well worth it, IMHO.

I agree with Carol. It is worth it to book a room because you won't be allowed to use the pool or beach area without a room key. I tried once before. This year we were at BWV in January and I couldn't get a room during Marathon weekend anywhere at WDW so we split our week and went to VB for 3 days. I had been there many times in the past but it was the first time for my 80 years young mom. I requested an upper floor Inn Room studio with ocean view - boy was it a great view! We were right in the center of the resort on the top floor. My mom loved it. We took the more leisurely drive (not I-i5) so it took about two and half hours but well worth it.

Phew! Ok, all is right with the world again...the planets have realigned. Yeah, I'd say you are just a bit transparent (but we love you for it!). :goodvibes
