Is Universal worth it for a 2.5 year old?

We are going back to Orlando in November. This is DH & my first time staying in a non-disney hotel.

We figured since we will be off property we would rent a car & maybe go to Universal for a day or so.

Now DH & I do not have to do Universal this trip. I mean, sure we would like to, but if the park really is not geared at all for little ones, we can wait until DS is older.

So I guess what I am asking is, is there enough for our 2.5 year old DS (at time of trip) to do at the park?

Not interested in a lot or even any baby swapping. We travel to Orlando enough, we can wait until DS is bigger to do the thrill rides with him.

This trip is for him, not for us to do thrill rides.

TIA!

I would ask myself this question....is it worth spending the money for the two of you for tickets and putting a child that small through all that? I mean, how long will a toddler be happy before getting cranky and ready to leave? I would wait until the child is old enough to really be able to enjoy it, and remember it......JMO....I do have kids and did not take them anywhere like that when they were that small.....never could understand people taking infants to parks like that, either.....again, JMO

At IOA The Dr. Seuss area is just magical for little ones. There are several great rides there and playareas if your child knows those books characters. My son went when he was 4 and just LOVED it. He also liked the playareas throughout the park but there are many things that are just geared to older ones. IMHO Universal seems to have more playareas for kids than WDW. The kids loved UO too especially the Curious George area and ET.

We're taking our almost 5 yr old this summer for the first time, and after all the reading I've done and the questions I've asked here, I'm glad we waited. I don't think there is enough to do for kids any younger.

For us, Disney was so magical to ds at that age, we went as much as we could, and now that he's growing up and into Spiderman and Nick stuff, I don't regret sticking to Disney for those first few years....they just grow up too fast, LOL.

Now, if I had lots of extra money and could do both, then I would definitely go to IoA for Seuss's landing, especially if your little guy likes the books...I could just imagine seeing a little one's expressions at the scenery and riding Caro-Seuss-El...priceless, like the commercial, LOL!

Have fun deciding!

We did Universal and IOA when my son was 2 and my niece was 3 they had a great time. My niece still talks about some of the things we did there. :sunny: In all honesty we were really there for the adults. But for one day I think a 2.5 year old would have plenty to do. It's your vacation do what you want to do.

Personally, I'd wait until he's a little older. Most of the attractions are geared toward older kids and adults. We took my DS for the first time when he was 4.5 and I think it was a little much for him but of course all kids are different. Hope you have a good time whatever you choose to do!
