Is Typhoon Lagoon worth it for a 10 year old who will not do the slides?

I basically have a "free" Waterpark Pass (ie it came with my package). I had planned on doing TL one morning but heard the resort buses stop running back direct at 2:00. So we would have to wake up early, get on the bus (I'm not sure how long it takes) and then leave by 2:00 because I really don't want to have to deal with any other method. DD would LOVE the lazy river and that's about it I think :) Possibly the wave pool. There is no way she would do the slides and I'm not sure if she would snorkel with the "sharks". But, I want to give her the chance to try anything.

Is the wave pool/river enough to make it worth it? Are there any other water rides that are real real low key?

I know it's all relative to personal opinion. We are staying at the Poly so I'm wondering if we just make it a resort morning. Thanks!

They have some low key slides and the wave pool is fun. My kids liked the beach around the wave pool. If you are only there for a few days I would skip it. If you are there for the week definitely go.

I think you would still have fun there. The wave pool is neat. But why not wait and see everyone's energy level by that point in your trip and then decide if you want to "go on the road" again that day, or just stay close to base at your resort. After 2 pm, what exactly happens with the bus? It makes other stops?

Directly from my 10 yo DD:

Wave pool is the best and definitely worth it even if that's the only thing you do all day.

She loves a tube ride (Humunga Kowabnga) that isn't strictly a slide.

The lazy tube ride around the park has some fun moments as well as relaxing ones.

Don't pass up the donuts with chocolate sauce.

Are you sure she won't do slides? The family raft ride everyone goes together in a huge tube, for example. Is there a reason you're leaning towards TL over blizzard beach? Blizzard beach has a fantastic area for kids who are nervous and older Than the infant area

DD loved the water parks. I just want to warn you to be careful in the wave pool. The bottom is very rough (for traction I think) and if you get whacked by a wave you can end up with some nasty scrapes. I speak from experience!

Wave pool is fun all day long but as pp mentioned it is dangerous. I wouldn't let my child do it alone after experiencing it. Lot of people go flying when the wave goes though.

The question I would ask myself for my child is, 'would this put a smile on his face and be something he will remember years to come?' - if the answer is yes, I would do it.

Yes it's worth it. The wave pool is awesome. You can stay more shallow if the wave is too intimidating. There are several very mild slides that aren't scary. And the lazy river of course. A few hours is enough. We went around 5 and left at 8 and it was plenty. Great parking spots and no crowds! Tried Blizzard as well but everyone preferred Typhoon because of the wave pool. Have fun!

and don't worry about the buses, they still run and you won't be stranded....but if all else fails, you can take a taxi if you want to keep it the least complicated!

The snorkeling at Typhoon is fun too!

I was told Blizzard Beach had more slides that's why I was leaning towards TL. And I thought the kids area was for little kids. She is in that awkward stage where she wants to be with the big kids but is often too afraid. Are either waterparks further distance from the Poly? I will definitely judge how everyone is feeling (it is just me and dd so that's easy!) Thanks!

Blizzard beach is great for the in between kids. I found TL was really lacking in that area. The ski patrol area is a lot of fun for them. They are across the street basically from each other if I remember it right

I'd really recommend Blizzard. The wave pool at TL is very very strong. Both parks have medium level slides. The Ski Patrol area at BB is lots of fun for Tweens. Both parks have sand to play in and the amazing donuts!!

Water Parks are huge for my sissy kids. I have two girls, 13 and 11. Even when they wouldn't ride coasters, and DD11 still won't do Splash, they love love love water parks.

BB has a GREAT very tame section that she would love! My kids used to spend hours there. It has ice floes that you walk across by holding onto an overhead net, a small t-bar, really gentle slides. Also, the family raft ride at BB is very tame and one of the most fun things to do in all of WDW! It's super long and fun, fun, fun!!!! BB also has a lazy river and a gentle wave pool. Do it, even if you just arrive by 10 and leave at 1:45. It's worth it for sure.
