Hi, I thought I read that if you book online for the HRH they DO NOT charge your 1st nite to your credit card?? Do you then just pay the full bill at check-in. So I could pay for our whole stay with cash when I check-in?? Is this so if you cancel they DO Not have to do and refunds or credits?? Thanks, Joan

they charge the cc you have on file when you check out! I have no idea why it works like this if you book online. :confused3

i think i read it depends if you book online thru universal website OR the Loew's website. unfortunately, i can't remember which i booked thru and have not yet been charged 1 night deposit (staying 4 nights)... and i think i booked it late last fall...definately before thanksgiving

I book over the phone using the toll free number directly with PBH. I gave my CC# for the reservation but never charged a deposit. This is normal as my card is never charged at the time of reservation. I did receive a confirmation e-mail so all is ok. Apparently none of the hotels charge until you check in, not to worry as long as you have a confirmation number.

I just wanted to mention that I have stayed at Royal Pacific, Hard Rock Hotel and Portofino Bay several times. I always book my reservations through Loews Hotels at 1-800-23loews and have ALWAYS been charged a one night deposit.

When using the toll free # and calling I have been charged. When booking on-line I was never charged.

Same here. I have always been charged a deposit when I booked over the phone. I have yet to be charged a deposit when booking online.

I currently have two reservations for Thanksgiving right now that I booked through the loewshotels.com website that still have not had the deposit charged.

And I always book through Loewshotels.com, as last year, one Loewsfirst person told me that booking through Loewshotels, I would get my points. Not so all the time when booking through the Universal Website, as it is considered a third party and you may or may not get the points. Don't know if she was 100% correct in that info, but I would rather be safe than sorry, so always book through Loewshotels.com.

Just a word of caution for paying cash. If you are going to pay cash at checkout------save all documentation and treat it like GOLD! Remember they have your credit card number, and almost always run it through. Even if you ask them to give you back all the copies of your card info, I promise they will still probably run it through. It can take months to straighten it out and is a huge hassle. If I were you I would have the cash available in an account, still use the original credit card, and immediately transfer the cash to the credit card yourself. (I have experience with being double charged in this exact scenario)

Same here, not charged until check out when booking online. Just booked over the phone for May and was charged for one night on my credit card.

Same here, booked online twice at http://www.loewshotels.com/ and was not charged a deposit...booked via phone once and was charged a one night deposit.

Add me to the list. In the past, made ressies over the phone and was charged the deposit. Last week made ressie online and was NOT. I'd rather be charged, so I can get some of the expense out of the way, but I guess I can understand their point of view....people make ressies and suddenly change plans. Easier to not deal with refunds.

ETA: Online ressie last week was through Universal website.

And me, ressies made on the phone took a dep, internet booking has not (yet).

I made our first reservations to RPH last week via the website :cool1: . I too was concerned when my CC wasn't charged. I even called Loews to make sure they could see my reservation. They confirmed everything and I received a separate email confirmation direcly from RPH. I printed that as well as my original email confirmation from the Universal site.

I asked about paying in advance and was told I could through a third party :confused3 . I was told they would mail some forms and request a copy of my CC front and back. Has anyone done this before?

Either way......I'm going to Universal for the first time ever  :cheer2: :woohoo:

Sorry, can you tell I'm just a little excited :teeth:

Good point about saving receipt but you could also pay the credit card before you leave and then just charge the room to it and you still dont come home to a bill

We put the bill on credit card and leave the stack of cash home to pay it when the bill comes :thumbsup2
(altho, some might not be able to resist the temptation to "dip" into that wad of cash.....each time I accumulate $100 worth, I exchange it at the bank for a $100 bill---won't spend it then! :teeth: )

Hi, THANKS for all the replies! I booked online for a 4 nite stay in July thru the Loews hotel site(I have a BLUE card).I think I got a good deal with stay 4 nites and get 2 adult park passes. Thanks also for the TIP on NO CASH, I will use my CC and leave the cash at HOME! Joan
