The sales lady who is trying to sell me a resale time share(who used to work for Disney) said the best home resort is Hilton Head if you ever want to go there in summer b/c it is impossible w/i the seven month window. For Disney resorts, she said the 7 month window is fine so long as you do not go in Christmas, Spring Break, etc. We have no problem going to Disney in other times and pull our kids out of school for a week.

So, my question is...Is statement about getting into a Disney property at the 7 month point easy for those who own HH or VB? Or getting into a disney resort other than your home at the seven month point?

Thsi sounds about right from what I heard hear.
Such as HH hard to get in the summer unless you own there and can book 11 montsh out. Other WDW DVC resorts do bok out before 7 months, but usually during particular times. hopefully someone can give you a list of these. Good luck.

Randy...the question really is where do you intend to stay the most?

If you think the vast majority of your vacations will be to WDW (as opposed to HH), then you should buy there.

Your guide failed to mention a few other things that are tough at 7 months.

Hard to get BCV or BWV rooms during October/November Food & Wine festival.

Hard to get OKW Grand Villa any time at 7 months.

Hard to get peak seasons outside of home resort....note that the DVC peak seasons are not the same as the WDW resort peak seasons. For instance, early December is a very high DVC reservation time due to low points, and it can be difficult to get the resort of your choice at 7 months. This would be especially true at smaller resorts like VWL or BCV.

Hard to get BWV standard view rooms (less points per night) at 7 months.

Hard to get BWV Boardwalk view at 7 months (at least we think that's how that'll work out).


And with DVC selling a lot more memberships at Saratoga Springs Resort, the competition for 7 month reservations just keeps growing.

If you don't care what resort you stay in, and are flexible with your accommodations or dates, then a 7 month window might work for you.

But really, if you think you'll be going to WDW most years, then I think the advice you'll hear here is to buy where you want to stay the most.

39 years is a long time to think "I wish I'd have bought at WDW".

I have booked HH in the summer, but it's difficult, and you certainly can't be picky about dates and types of accommodations. If you are booking at 7 months you will not be able to be picky at the Disney World, either. For example, you may have to book two studios rather than a two-bedroom, and you will have to go later in the summer than you would like. Generally, you will need to buy at the resort where you want to stay the most often, if you have set plans and needs. Don't forget that your plans will change as your children-and you-get older, so you need to think about that, too.

Buy two contracts. Buy your main contract at WDW and if you think HH will be a regular stay for you, buy a 50 point add on there. With banking and borrowing, that can be 150 points every third year.

Buying where you plan to stay most is good advice. Being stuck with the seven month window at WDW for the next forty years would be a real bummer for me.

Buy where you think you'll stay most often!!! You'll hear this many tiimes on this board. If you vacation mostly in the summer and think you'll spend alot of time at HH, then you might want to consider buying there. If you're not picky about where you stay at WDW, you probably won't have difficulty getting in one of the DVC resorts there, although it may not be your first, or even your second, choice. But you can waitlist for your first choice and hope it comes through.

I had a difficult time getting ressies at VWL last December 8-15. Had to waitlist day-by-day. The final day or two came through about two weeks before we left for WDW.

I did exactly what Rich said .I bought a 55 pt contract 2 years ago and go onspring break every other year .A 110 pts gets you a 1 bedroom sun to thurs and we drive down from New York .It works out great.Listen to Rich

We are only a year into the whole DVC experience. However, even though we own at OKW I was successful at getting HHI at 7 months twice now. We stayed this past July and we have the 3rd week in March booked already for 2004. Both times I booked for a 2 bedroom. I was not put on a waitlist either time. Maybe I have just gotten lucky!

We own at several resorts (VWL,BCV and HH), our largest number of points is at HH. We have used HH points for WDW. There is usually availability at WDW for OKW especially for the 2-BR units. I just booked spring break (March 04) all on HH points, no waitlist. We often book WDW Sun-Thurs stays with our VWL or BCV points and at the 7 month window add Fri/Sat with HH points. If your not fixed on a "have to" stay at one resort you will be fine. Availabilty can sometimes be a problem even at 11 months (BWV std views/VWL early Dec).

Of course the best part of HH points is booking at HH!!

I think she is telling you correctly, up to a point. HH has the second lowest dues. You can usually get something at WDW at 7 months except maybe the exclusions she mentioned and certain types of rooms like GV, standard view, BW view and maybe add in there all of December. Still, why complicate your life by being stuck with the 7 month window. If you want HH 30-40% of time in SUMMER, and also WDW for the rest, you should do OK. If not, buy where you want to stay. If you don't really care and just want to try all the WDW resorts, buy OKW which has the lowest fees.

HH is very difficult to get in summer, no doubt about that.
