Hi All
Booked a 20 night trip for next year as follows:

8 Aug - fly out
Check into deluxe for 1 night

9 Aug- check into Nick Hotel for 3 nights

12 Aug - check into HRH at Universal for 2 nights(booked)

14 Aug- check into AKL for 14 nights(booked)

We are staying deluxe for one night because i paid a £200 deposit to Disney UK for accomodation, which I will basically lose because they won't refund it.
The kids love Nick and 2 days there will be enough. We always stay at Universal for FOTL and then we'll have AKL for 2 weeks.
My question is, is this too many hotels? Is it way too much messing about, checking in and out. I'm thinking it will be fine, but friends say its too much.
With 20 nights, I'll make sure we don't make any big plans for the days when we are changing and I think its do-able.
We have 2 kids who will be 11 and 6.

Thanks

Hi,

It's a difficult one, all the check-in and check-out is a pain and you can lose some time on your holiday in these days.
However, as you going for nearly 3 weeks and have the bulk of your stay at your final accomodation I think you will be fine.
The biggest factor may be the packing & unpacking a few times, if you are okay with that I wouldn't worry. :)

In the past we have had many holidays were we have travelled around Florida more, rather than just be in Orlando.

It is definitely good to stay at different places.

It would be way too much for us, we are there 25 nights in August 16 nights at one hotel 7 nights cruise last 2 nights in hotel, we won't enjoy packing and unpacking for that.
As Johnny says you lose holiday time, checking out in morning, checking in new hotel late afternoon.
We don't enjoy moving hotels but some don't mind it.

Hi
My husband has suggested we could have one of the cases for stuff for the first week and keep the rest packed till we arrive at AKL.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

seeing you have all the hotel changes at the beginning of your trip
I see no problem if you pack right

We always change , it can be starting a new holiday all over again

Yes, that's definitely a good idea and one we have used a few times.
It does help a lot, though with kid's it sometimes makes things more complicated - I guess the more in your family the harder packing all the gear into just 1 case - but in theory it's worth trying. ;)

I would say if you pack right and accept that on moving days you won't be doing loads then it will be ok. I think the suggestion to pack a case with everyones stuff for the first part of the holiday is great, that way you are limiting the amount of packing and unpacking. Of course you will have to plan it carefully but being a compulsive planner I would enjoy that!

Only you will know if it proves to be too much for you and your family. :hippie:

Most of our recent Florida trips have been split between three different hotels in 7 nights, plus another one at the airport the night before. It's just 'normal' for us - but I understand it wouldn't suit everyone, especially when you add kids into the packing equation!

If you're planning a park day on changeover day you wouldn't be spending time in the hotel anyway, so check out early, leave your bags at your new hotel (they'll have an air-conditioned store for them), spend the day in the park and then return to your new hotel later in the day when your room will be ready.

Yes, you probably have to be a bit more organised to make it work without being an inconvenience, but it's perfectly do-able, and can be enjoyable! ;)

I don't think it is too much;), but then I LOVE multi-stay trips!!:lmao: It feels like lots of mini vacations in one to me. :cloud9: (Last trip we did, 3 nights HRH, 3 nights DCL cruise, 4 nights Poly, 12 nights villa - which should have been 13 nights but I got bored there and spent the last night at AKL!!! and that was with a 4 year old and a 9 mth old!!:rotfl:)

I think the key is packing - you are right with what you suggest. We actually took 4 bags and each was labelled with where it was for (this was really important for the cruise and pirate/formal nights;)) and then I only opened certain bags in certain places. IMHO it is easier to have the longest stay near the end and then you can unpack everything and sort through it all!!

We didn't have a problem at all over there - but I would say that I planned each piece of luggage before we went with military precision!!:goodvibes (But at that time I was also trying to make sure I had enough nappies and baby milk/food sachets for every part of the trip - at one point I remember a calculator being involved!!:lmao:

So, IMO it can be done easily as long as you plan properly - and afterall, aren't us DISers great at planning??!!:banana:

If you are happy with your choices then go for it. Last year we did a 3 week trip to California and Vegas and stayed in 4 different hotels (a week at the Grand Californian at Disneyland, 2 nights at Six Flags Magic Mountain, 5 nights in Hollywood followed by a week at the Bellagio in Vegas). We packd a case for the first 2 hotels, then a seperate case for the 2nd 2 hotels which we found worked well.

OT sorry - but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Bellagio!!:worship::worship::worship:

I think that sounds fine. We did 18 nights in California and Las Vegas last year and stayed in 6 different hotels (4-1-1-4-4-4 nights) We became experts at living out of our suitcases ;) This year we're doing 19 nights in 3 hotels (4-6-9 nights) with an internal flight in the middle and would have no qualms about doing multiple hotels in future :)

Hi All

Wow! To think I was worried about my hotels!
There are some very impressive itineries there.
You have all made my mind up and I'm going to do it as I planned. I think with a bit extra planning(the fun part) it will be great!

Thanks

Best buffet I have ever been to. Sunday brunch in the Bellagio is Heaven :cloud9:

Once you have tried it you will know for next time.

as someone who has done muti stays quite a few times and always found it great. Most stays in a 14 week period was 4 difernt hotels and there was a drive up to HH island and back in there. plus a seperate time 4 for cali with Vegas (the hotel at mandalay bay has the best pool).Like others say plan and pack bags accordingly then it will go fine

As long as your prepared for it I'd say go for it. We usually tend to move around quite a bit so we're used to it.

Last month we got about quite a bit and did 7 hotels!!!
Washington, 1nt out side Washington in Bethesda
In Washington 4 nts
Vegas 2 hotels in 6 days
Orlando cheap hotel 1 nt, 7 nts VWL and 7nts in a timeshare.

I usually pack with the clothes we need on the top of the cases, we didn't unpack on our last trip unitl we arrived in Disney, needless to say we had some very creased clothes...LOL.

One thing I would do different is move the Disney night in a Deluxe to maybe after the nick hotel, you won't get in until quite late and I would want to spend every minute getting the use out of the hotel.
