:cool1: I want to start planning our next trip to WDW for 2006, am i crazy to even start thinking about it this early???We want to stay @ the Polynesian, so i know it is very expensive to stay there, so i have to start putting money away for that.
We have always stayed @ the Value, but i really want to see what it is like @ the more expensive places.
Should i or not!!!!!!!!!!!stay @ expensive or stay w/ the value, 2- families, total of six.I'M very tired of the long walks to the Bus Depot, after beening in the Park all day, need something that will let me off @ my door. LOL nana2tots :grouphug:

I think you might be disappointed with Polyn - it is spread out just like a value - only one bus stop - the monrail is only in CH (main building - where you check in, restuarants and shops are located).

you can walk to the tt (ticket/transportation center) for the monrail to Epcot.

and the monrail sure beats any bus or boat for tranportation and fun - but don't go expecting to get their faster or easier than the value resort buses - you will be disappointed.

go for the resort itself - it is beautiful, lovely - the landscaping is superior, the romantic is in the air, the bigger rooms, the lovely views....

not for quicker transportation - or you will be disappointed.

I'm already anticipating our trip in 2006 too! And not just 2006, but the week after Thanksgiving, 2006! I have closer to 2 years until my trip!

We've always stayed in Values too, ASMo to be exact. We have loved it there. Especially last Fall, because DS3 is a Toy Story fanatic and we got in the Buzz building. We had great bus service, great Mousekeeping, and an overall wonderful experience. But I too want to upgrade next time. I am leaning toward the WL. I've read that it's gorgeous at Christmas-time, and has a really cozy feel when it's cooler outside. Plus, my kids would love the bunk beds. I have a DD & DS. By the next trip, they'll be 8 & 5 -- they can't share a bed forever! I love the idea of taking the launch to MK and seeing the EWP from the beach (or maybe our balcony!).

For a long time, I thought DH would never go for a deluxe. However, I've been showing him some of the great rates that people have gotten for the WL in value season. It's not much more than the $99/night rack rate we paid for ASMo in regular season last year!

So I say -- Go for the deluxe and have a wonderful time anticipating your next trip to the most magical place on Earth!

We just got back from our trip and I'm already planning for 12/2006 or early 2007. We want to stay at AKL so we have to start saving now too. Its never to early to plan!

I agree - it's never too early. I always start planning my next visit the minute I arrive home. This will give you plenty of time to save for a Deluxe which is an experience everyone should have at least once. The only problem is that once might not be enough! Enjoy your planning! :wave2:

Planning equals Fun :flower: when you are talking about wdw :earboy2:

Before I answer your questions, you have six in your party? How many are adults, kids, etc? I don't think a standard room at the Poly will hold six. I may be wrong but I had a hard time getting a resort I could live with the $$ for 5 people. Anyone else know for sure?

That's what I would recommend. Find out the number of people vs room type to see if it's within reach, then plan away! Save save save! that's fun too when you have a purpose in mind.

Have a great time planning :cheer2:

There are 4- adults, 2- kids, ages 6, 11 :cool1: nana2tots

Isn't the planning one of the great parts of the whole process???

I feel like it's easier to save if you have an ACTUAL reservation :flower:

Makes it feel more real :cloud9:

I like to start planning for another vacation as soon as I get back.....

I know I'm not alone here :p

Hello all! I'm really new here and was reading around before i post but this was the exact question i have too. I'm planning a trip in feb 2006 and have already started saving but when should i be making reservations? Can i make them almost a year ahead? I'm still learning about all the codes and really hope i can manage to stay in a moderate hotel at closer to the economy rate.

I'm "planning" now for a either 9/2006 trip or a 4/2007 trip. We haven't got any dates set in concrete yet, or anything like that, and we won't be making any firm plans until at least January next year, but its is still fun to see whats out there and learn as much as you can before you go so you can be prepared and know what to expect.

Nana2tots - with 4 adults and 2 kids you will have to get a suite or two rooms. Your best bet for $$$ sake would be WL, or two garden rooms at CR at the Magic Kingdom resorts. Or you could go with a cabin at Fort Wilderness which is not on the monorail either. Or you could rent a 2 bdroom villa at Beach Club or Boardwalk. They aren't on the monorail but you have the option of walking or taking bus or boat. Disney doesn't make it easy for larger families.

DO THE POLYNESIAN!!! DO IT DO IT BOOK RIGHT AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!
We spent out honeymoon there last year - awesome - the rooms, the themeing, the facilities. I could go every year but sadly can't afford. After staying there. no way would I saty in a value ever.

I have had our May 06 vaca booked for 4 months now!!! I check out the boards for info everyday - dh thinks I am crazy!

Have you thought about renting points for a 2 bedroom dvc? That's what I am hoping to do to add a few night on before our land/sea package. Since we are a party of six, the kitchen and laundry seem to make sense since we would have had to pay for 2 rooms anyway...

Good luck saving and happy planning!

Isn't that the danger? Not being able to stay in a value once a Deluxe is experienced?

How about a moderate instead?

Took my Mom on a trip last May. We stayed OKW studio, BCV studio, POR (not FQ) and PBh at Universal. She thought all the Disney were the same, equally nice. We are staying this year at All Stars Movie ( 2 days her Kellog Kash, 2 days my kellogg Kash) I think she'll notice a difference! However DD will probably be thrilled with icons and i plan to take her to Pop Century just to see the Enormous Play Dough can.

(nana2tots) - We stayed at the Poly last year in April 2005 and absolutely fell in love with this place. The rooms have 2 queen beds and a daybed, so it will sleep 5 comfortably. You may be able to call the Poly and ask them their policy on a cot. I think for just a few extra dollars a night they may rent those roll-away beds, but I'm not sure. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that if you can swing the Poly, then DO IT!!! YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT ONE BIT!! I read in a previous post from someone that even at the Poly the longhouses were separated and there was a lot of walking to do. Well that may be true about the buildings being separated, but the walking is not bad at all. We stayed in the Tahiti building and we went to the Volcano pool just about every day, and the walk was maybe 5 minutes or less and Tahiti building is the furtherest one away from the main house were the monorail stops and the main pool. Our room was the last one on our floor and all we had to do was walk out the side door and go right down to the beach. We loved watching Wishes from the beach there. The view at night from the beach is spectacular!!!! Not only with the castle changing colors at night, but the GF resort is all lit up at night and it is just so beautiful!!! The grounds of the Poly are magnificent, and the lobby.......breaktaking. We took the boat to the MK about three of four times instead of the monorail. It was so relaxing. My DD (6) absolutely loved it. We are staying at the WL this year because we wanted to experience a different resort, but we are thinking of purchasing AP passes and so our next trip (after this trip in May at WL) we are probably going to go back to the Poly!! We just love it there!! Start saving the money and stay at the POLY!!!! Aloha!!

We don't go until the week after Thanksgiving this year and I've been planning for this trip since July of 2003! I'm also already planning our next trip, a visit to the parks followed by a cruise for August of 2007. LOL It's definitely not too early for you to plan. :)
