Is this the year to get AP's?

My family and I are thinking of buying AP’s for the whole family. We are a family of six; four of my girls are in school now. They are in fifth, fourth and Kinder. We take them out once a year for a family trip in the spring. We use our Tax return to pay for our trip. We would use the monthly payment plan this year to pay for out AP’s. With that said do you think with all of the work going on to the Parks this year that this is the year to get AP's for our family of 6? We wouldn’t be able to get AP’s every year. How do you think the construction to the parks would affect our trips? Do you think there is a better year to plan to buy the AP’s for?

I would love for the girls to see the parks at Christmas time and Halloween. We were suppose to go for Halloween this year but decided that if we are buying Ap’s it wouldn’t make any sense to go now if we aren’t going back until March. If we buy the AP’s when we go in March then we would go in October and November or December for sure. Then a few 3 day trips now and then. Thanks in advance for your constructive advice! :goodvibes

If it were me I wouldn't let the construction going on in DCA affect this decision too much. There is still quite a bit to do in both parks. Some of the congested areas have been opened up recently with new routing. Some rides will always be down no matter when you are there.

We are also in Northern California and we usually only go once a year. Last year was bit different for us, we went three times in a span of 8 months, so AP's were a no brainer. Two of the trips were planned, the third was spur of the moment because we had AP's, we figured a third of that trip was already paid for, let's go!

If you know you are going to go at least twice within a 12 month span it seems that it makes dollars and sense to get AP's. A 3 day hopper from DL for an adult is $199. If you make two 3 day trips that equates to $398. A Deluxe AP is $379, plus you get a lot of discounts on food, merch, and DL hotels.

I would make this decision based on your best guess for how many trips/days you think you will spend in the Land over the next 12 months. It may pencil out to get at least one AP for the discounts, especially if you plan to stay onsite when there are no other special rates.

I would also suggest one adult getting a Premium pass - you get parking included (if you stay offsite) and 20% off merchandise, 15% off dining.

A premium (which includes parking) is $499. A deluxe w/o parking is $379 but if you add $100 for parking, a deluxe is $479.

If you don't plan to stay offsite, maybe deluxe APs would work.
