Is this terrible, and does anyone else do this?

I'm right there with the rest of you. DD 2 came home to a room decorated in Disney Princesses, and has been my princess ever since. Both DS and DD talk about going back to WDW, DS asks me almost every day when we are going back. When the new baby comes home, she will be in a Mickey and Minnie room. I can't wait to start the corruption of the newest addition :rotfl2: We usually watch Disney movies and I always have on one of the Disney music CD's when the radio is on. I guess I would rather it be Disney then something less wholesome, like certain things on Cartoon Network :sad2:

No problem as long as some of that learning is coming from toys and books and not just from being parked in front of the tv. Disney great!

Umm nope not a problem. DD is a huge Disney fan and DS is well on his way. DD loves anything Disney and has been talking about our last Disney Trip in Nov of 04. We would wait and surprise her the day we leave but her brother may not do terribly well with no preparation.

My 18 month old asks to hear "Yo ho" (POTC) and "Tiki" (Tiki Room) quite often and identifies Mickey Mouse from the 3 circle shape. He can also identify Spaceship Earth in pictures as "Epcot" and can name the so called fab five from T ****s and pictures, although in slightly garbled 18 month old talk. I had the same concerns about whether this is just too much of our thinking inserted in his head.

Of course, his other favorite activity right now is looking through a Home Depot home improvement book and picking out every hammer, drill, saw, level, tape measure and screwdriver he can see and naming them out loud as we go. So it's not just Disney all the time.

Let's put it this way: my now 22 mo old daughter has been singing "It's a small world after all" EVERY DAY since our trip at the beginning of July. Yes, that's 66 days of non-stop SMALL WORLD!! :earseek: And of course, my 3 yr old joins in. Every time someone mentions Disney World, or small world, or she sees the castle, it starts. Her favorite video to watch: Sing Along Songs "Disneyland Fun".

I love that my girls will know a place that brings so many people so much happiness. We do try to balance all things Disney with traditional kid stories and classic books (how can you not read Curious George, or Where the Wild Things Are...). But then some of the Disney stories are classics too... my DD LOVES to play and pretend Peter Pan. She's in love with Woody and Buzz, who, when you come down to it, are a cowboy and a spaceman. What kids have been playing with for years.

I think I would get worried if she was ONLY interested in Disney stuff. There's so much great literature out there that stimulates kids imaginations! Thankfully my girls are imaginative, creative little girls that are showing interests in just about everything from dinosaurs to baby dolls.

Okay, count me in. My DS is 10, and has been Disneyfied since birth. His room still has a Disney Babies border, and he will not let me take it down. It is also covered in Mickey and Buzz, plus other "boy" stuff. He still sings small world and pirates, but his favorite to sing now is "A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow". It only gets better as they grow. His teacher was showing them an ancient filmstrip on Monday, and DS ask him to turn back because he thought he saw a Mickey head in the frame. Just a bit obsessed, I would say....wonder where he learned it from :goodvibes

I'll take Disney over some of the other stuff that is on anytime!!

My 2 yr old can find hidden mickeys, my 4 yr old hums the theme song to Little Einsteins...If loving Disney is wrong, I don't want to be right!

Considering the other cartoons that are out there and other influences I'd much rather they be Disneycated than into that other 'stuff'. They are learning new words, colors, etc. by watching the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and enjoy acting out stuff from the Power Rangers.

No harm no foul I say!
