Is this tacky?

I agree. Even though they are considered "deluxe" resorts, they are still sitting in a theme park.

But we do at least leave the big cooler in the car and just bring a small cooler to the room.

We saw people who were rolling in 2 coolers and had the bell hop rolling in another . No one was staring at them . I bring in my own snacks if I want and I have no problem doing that ..
enjoy that is your vacation and you should do what you want :teeth:

Not at all, on my last trip to the Contemporary we brought snacks, gallons of water, etc.

For the person who had a question about milk at YC - across the lake on the Boardwalk is a small convience store where you can buy milk and other things.

I wouldn't worry about looking tacky to others. IMHO it is no one else's business and if it worries them they need to get a life of their own and not pay attention to yours.

They sell milk in the gift shop of the Beach Club (at least they did when I was there). They also sold donuts and a few other grocery items.

You used to have to walk over to the BW to get milk when you stayed at the YC, but they added it to the BC shop a year or so ago. I can tell you that it keeps cold just fine in a cooler full of ice, too.:D

This really makes me feel good. We always bring a cooler for milk and bottled water. I always let my husband stay with the car while I went to check in so I would not be seen with all our "stuff."

One year at WL my brother-in-law brought a microwave with him (along with everything else) and the bell hop had to show it to everyone becuase it was the first one they saw a guest bring. We told them his name was Jed Clampet. It gave them a good laugh.

Hick here checking in - dont care, went to sam's to buy the collapsable cooler, decided to save money on postage, and just bring it, dh said as long as we have the cooler, may as well fill it with sam's club snacks - so I have beef jerkey and breakfast bars!! I plan on a grocery stop for water and milk, and cheese...

PS this tacky lady also bought bubble wrap and I will carry on my champagne and gran marnier, so take that!!

A cooler doesn't seem tacky to me. But how's this for "tacky"? We are staying at the Royal Pacific at Universal and have rented a cabana by the pool. It comes with a t.v., ceiling fan, lounge chairs, table, a small refrigerator stocked with drinks and also fresh fruit. Here's the tacky part: I have purchased colorful paper plates, palm tree picks, pretty napkins and we are taking our home grown tomatoes and having homemade sandwiches in our cabana by the pool. We'll be discreet, but hey it's tomato season. And ours are delicious.

I don't see anything wrong with bringing some tomatoes, besides you're in a cabana. It your private section. If you want to bring fresh cucumbers, carrots, broccoli and celery...bring the ranch dip! YUMMMMmmm...Gooood!!

When we stayed at RPR, we had FLTour to stop at a grocery and be bought some snacks, pops, and a box of cereal. We saved some money. We didn't have a cooler though. But that was the smartest move I made.

Wow! I was thinking about bringing a microwave because I have back and neck problems and I use this heating pad that I heat up in the microwave that I can't live without. But we're taking the train and no way I'm lugging that on the train. Too bad they don't have microwaves for rent. I'm going to be flipping out without my "neck thing" (as I affectionately call it) all week.

There are some one-use pads that work surprisingly well. You could take them with you "just in case" you need them.

We stay in hotels alot. My cooler has seen everything from a Sun down Inn when our car broke down in north Florida last April to the Doubletree Hotel in north Dallas and all types inbetween. At Disney we have stayed at the Value and Moderate Resorts. No one ever questions, we all have to save money some how. And it is a time convenience to have cereal and snacks in the room to make better time in getting to the parks in the morning. Enjoy your stay and if you see someone staring. Maybe they are just thinking about how much more money they are haveing to spend by not bringing one.

Go for it!!!!

As a diabetic, I am often carrying all sorts of extra food type items with me. I don't think I would haul one in with bumper stickers & duct tape on it, but otherwise I would be probably dragging one along behind me!!

Not only do we bring a cooler, but we bring our snacks in a Rubbermaid container and I bring other stuff in a laundry basket. They all stack very neatly on the carts and I've NEVER had a bellman give us a second look.

People sure are envious when I'm in the laundramat with my basket and they're trying to fold their clean clothes into the Disney bag.:hyper:

We've stayed at WL, Poly and all of the moderates and value resorts. It doesn't matter which one you're at..there will always be people who think your tacky. I think they have way too much time on their hands.

Go, have fun and tally up all you save. We put lunch meat, yogourt, cheese, butter etc. in our cooler. That way we can have breakfast and supper in our room.

Yes...you're right and I probably will do that but there's nothing like putting on my jammies, heating "neck thing" up, cuddling up with her in bed and falling asleep. I told you I luuuvvv her. I'm really going to miss her!!:teeth:

We checked into both GF and HRH with a styrofoam cooler, case of water, case of diet coke and snacks. I don't think anybody looked twice - and if they did, oh well!
