I guess I really don't care, I don't have time to be the "soda police". Besides, everyone should be drinking water anyway. Soda is bad for you.

I thought we were talking about McD's here? Now it's suddenly a sit-down establishment?

If I were to eat at Le Cellier and DH orders 1 drink and shares it with DS because DS only drinks 2 sips out of it, you consider that stealing? If it's stealing, then why doesn't the server stop us and say "hey, no sharing allowed."

It's the same logic at play here. Say you're on the dining plan and you only use 1 table service credit between 2 adults - one adult takes the appetizer and dessert, another one takes the entree, do you consider that stealing?

what about borrowing a book from somebody and not buying it for yourself?????????????????

what about borrowing someone's cd to listen to, and then not buying because you decided you didn't like it????????

what about going over to someone's house to watch at DVD with them, but you didn't rent it yourself?????

Personally I have never seen people sharing a refillable drink, at a fast food restaurant or a sit down restaurant. I never have even thought about people sharing refillable drinks before this thread.

It really must be the Friday before a three-day weekend.

wait, did I miss it? Is there some written rule - only one person per drink? If so then I should get in trouble for DH and I ordering a large instead of two mediums.

We all know that drinks have the highest mark-up of all fast food items. I mean is it really $2.00 for a small Coke? If anyone is going to hell its the owners of establishments that grossly overcharge for 10 cents worth of drink. And they know it too b/c they offer free refills. Yup, I went there.

This is all a moo point anyway (you know, the opinion of a cow). I don't think many people (if any) on this thread buy drinks knowing they can get unlimited refills to deliberately buck the system. But if it was such a problem, the industry would just put signs up prohibiting so.

First thing, $2.00 for a small Coke, drinks cost alot your McDonalds!!!

Why do you think they charge $2.00 for a small Coke? It's for all of the refilling sharers. Also, 1 large @ $4.00 is less than 2 mediams @ $3.00. If you share then your fine but if you share & refill then you should have paid $2.00 more. Why not pay for 2 small drinks and ask for a large cup. You pay the same but it's less trips to the refill machine?

This is much more fun than work.

I don't think that is what the OP was talking about.

But it's the same logic. If one person purchases a drink and shares it and then asks for a refill and shares it, the OP considers that stealing. Whether you get a refill from a fountain or refill from a server, a refill is still a refill. Sharing 1 drink between 2 people, sharing 1 drink between 4 people, sharing 1 drink between 8 people... where do you draw the line?

Is it okay to let fast food establisments to take advantage of you? The syrup costs next to nothing for the sodas. The cups are what costs, but I bet that there is close to a 100 percent markup on the drink. Also, for those who are concerned about the environment, wouldn't it be more environemntally sound to share the drink, rather than add another waxy papercup to the trash heap? So what does that extra soda cup cost in terms of the environment?

Legitimate uses that do not violate copyright law. They have this thing called a library. It's free. And they contain all of the above for you to borrow--for free.

The discussion at hand is on "all you care to have" items--intended for one person that are shared by two or more people.

You are not required to eat there, they can charge what they want and you have to play by there rules.

FYI I callled McDonalds and they said that they do not have a company wide policy, because all McDonalds are franchises and set their own guidelines.
