Is This Stealing?

Actually the real question should be...do you refill just before you walk out the door? SO and I share a cup at fast food refill places, and I have always been the kind to refill just before leaving...you know, one for the road ;) But SO says this is wrong...funny he has no issue with sharing 1 refillable drink while we are sitting in the restaurant, but when we leave, he gets all touchy about refilling on the go.

I do feel that theme park refillable mugs are different they are designed to be used at many different times. The drinks at fast food restaraunts are intended for use at that meal.

Let me pose this question, when you go to a sit down resteraunt do you order just one drink for your family and have the waiter constantly refill your soda? Probably not, I think it has to do with you can get away with at Mcdonalds because you can do it yourself.

Maybe "sharing" isn't "stealing" but could be why prices are so high! Sharing is really gross. Backwash, spit...YUCK!! I have however taken my dd's sippy cup (filled from home) to a restaurant for her.

My DH and I have done it for years and have never thought of it as stealing. Asking for a cup for water and then getting soda is stealing to me.

I'm sorry. I cannot see how you can consider asking for a cup for water and getting soda stealing, and not see how 2 people sharing one refillable drink (and refilling it) is not.

You are still "stealing" the soda. You only consider it stealing if you get your own cup?

do you kiss your husband? ;) :rotfl:

I don't think it's wrong it as long as it's not 5 people sharing one drink or something. I'd never do it with DH (cause he's a hog) but i've done it with DS5 since he barely drinks anything and it's a waste to buy his own drink. He usually gets a kids meal though and gets his own drink anyway. ANd also, I'd do the same if it wasn't refillable. On the other hand, I always refill before we leave. I'm a sipper. I usually don't drink much and I'm always thirsty after we leave, so I fill up for the road. I don't think that's wrong because I know a lot of restaurants that aren't fast food will give you togo cups full of drink.

Would you openly share the drink if the manager was sitting at the table next to you?

If you hesitated then you know it's wrong.

Yes, it's stealing! Boy am I glad that I am sooooooo much better than that. Geez, what kind of message are you all who share refillable sodas sending to your children? They will grow up to be the kind of people who take a handful of little ketchup packets and put them in their purse for later. For shame, for shame!

The Splenda, the sugar packets, the mini creamers, the itty bitty stirrers, napkins and oh no, the STRAWS! Oh where will it end????? :faint:

Someone who thinks its ok, please answer my question about ordering just one drink at a sit down restaraunt. Is that ok?

most restaurants don't have the giant jugs of pop that movie theatres do. so we would each get our own at that point.

I think that if you share a refillable drink with your child, it is not stealing, but if you then go refill it when it is empty, then it is.

I either get my son his own drink, even if I think he won't finish it, or else I buy a larger drink and share it, but do not refill it. I would feel wrong about sharing and refilling. However, I don't monitor what other people do, and it is their own responsibility to determine what their morals are, so if they think it is alright I am not going to say anything.
