I made a reservation on-line with WDW Travel UK to stay at POR. During the booking process there was no chance to make a room location request. So I phoned up the UK no. and explained I wish to make one because my daughter is diabetic and wanted to be as close as possible to the food court and main buildings and was worried about the size of the resort and being a single parent.

The lady told me I couldn't do this and I had to ask at check in. Is this right?

Would be interested to also find out the answer to this question as we are thinking of booking POR for next year's jaunt.

However, you could also try ringing the hotel direct and ask them the question?

i always book my rooms directly with WDW, so i don't know how it works when you make your reservations through something else.

when you make your reservations directly with WDW, you ask them to put a note on your reservation regarding the building you want and in your case you would give the medical reason why.

disney does NOT guarantee you'll get what you ask for......however they supposedly do look at these reservation notes...

can't they put a notice on your reservation with WDW travel UK?

if not, then 5 days before your scheduled date, you should call directly to POR and speak with them. Tell them that you're arriving in 5 days and that for medical reaons you need to be close to the food court...

i think that it's at the 5 day mark that the resort itself gets all the reservations (maybe it's the 3 day mark, but regardless call at 5 days)..

I wouldn't worry too much.I would just phone them and ask them to put a note on your booking.We stayed at POR this year and they are very obliging and I am sure they will do there best.Just call them 4 days before your arrival and explain your daughter is IDDM and they will note on the booking.If you want to saty close I would as for the AB section building 14 ,15,18 or if you want mansions ask for oak manor(a bit further to walk than AB though especially if your put at the back).Like I said don't worry too much.When are you going?

Thanks for the replies and reassurance. We aren't going until next August but was just amazed with the response I got when I phoned, everything else I had read mentioned about reservation notes but there were no guarantees, which is fair enough.

Thanks for the suggestion about buildings, I was thinking of AB so will request 14,15 or 18.

I might try again in a few days in case it was just the agent I spoke to, there seems no email address. If not I'll phone POR just before we go, which unfortunately isn't for another 10 months.

yes, building 14 is the closest building to the food court (which is in the main building where you check in and where the little gift shop is). It's also very close to the main bus stop.

the first time we were somehow given building 14 without specifically requesting it. But the 2nd and 3rd times we stayed at POR, i specifically asked for building 14 and got it.

I think the third time i actually ended up calling on the day we were switching to POR (from another disney resort).....but not to request the building (which was already on my reservation) but to see if our room would be ready early.....disney resort check in is at 3 PM, but sometimes they have rooms earlier than that (and in any case, you can check in any time, you just won't necessarily get a room until 3)..
anyway, my daughter was sick, so i called to see if the room would be ready early.....they said yes and they even told us to take a taxi and they would pay for it!! (since my daughter wasn't feeling well)....
so we took a taxi and they did reimburse me for the cost....how nice is that????....
