Is this resort upgrade worth it?

I made reservations at POP for 7 nights mid June, and after checking today I can get Coronado for the same dates, for $300 more.
I'd love some opinions. Thank you so much in advance!

What you will get at CSR over Pop:

Bigger room
Coffee maker in room
Ceiling fans
Queen beds
Pool slide
Hot tub
Table service restaurant
Fitness Center
Multiple covered bus stops
Serene and laid back atmosphere

Now it's up to you to decide if the above amenities are worth the extra $300. To us, they are.

In addition to the post above, I'd consider if you have any other plans for that $300 - fine dining, souvenirs, or simply saving it for a future trip. That breaks down to about an extra $43/day.

For us, we wouldn't make the switch (unless we weren't planning on hitting too many parks and would take advantage of Coronado's amazing pool). $300 would be a nice, little slush fund for fun stuff during our trip.

Worth it is different for everybody. It depends on so many things. What your party is made up of? Pop rooms are tiny, with 2 double beds, 1 sink, no coffee pot. Pools tend to be very noisy, it's not a very relaxing atmosphere, it attracts mostly young families with small children.
We've done a couple of 1 night stays there and I thought it was fine. I asked for a quiet room, so got the last room in a building by lake trail. And it was only 2 of us. Myself & adult daughter. But for a family of 3-4 I think it would be pretty tight quarters. I wouldn't want to share a double bed with my husband.
I don't think I'd want to spend entire vacation there, but I could if I had to.

I much prefer the moderates. They feel more like a resort, relaxing, beautiful grounds, food court and restaurant, quiet pools when you want to get away from the noisy, crowded main pool. Hot tubs!
Rooms have 2 queens, 2 sinks (except CSR), a coffee pot! Rooms are larger. We enjoy taking a mid day break and returning to a moderate for some r&r is very pleasant.
So for me, it would def be worth it!

I agree, worth it will be a matter of opinion. For me, in a second I'd switch from POP to CSR. For one, I can't sleep in double beds, I'm 5'11. Once I stayed moderate, the reduction of noise sold me for life. But this time we got a great deal, and are going up to deluxe for only about $500 more than we would have paid at CBR, so for me THAT was worth it ( maybe, I've never stayed deluxe). Some would say no, and I may agree when I get back. But we saw a great opportunity to try our dream resort and went for it. I try not to look at it as I would have that money to spend on other things. I see it as trying something new that I haven't done before, and crossing something off of my Disney bucket list. My opinion is absolutely I would upgrade from POP to CSR for only $300.

Just beware the Disney slippery slope! It's only $300 more. Then it's only and extra $60 per person for park hoppers. Then it's only an extra $50 a person to add a dessert party. Then it's only an extra $10 per person to add another day's worth of tickets. Then it's only an extra .... to do... Then it's only an extra $$$ to do X, Y, and Z. Before you know it, your vacation ends up costing twice as much as it did when you started!

It may well be worth it for you! Really!!! But just think what else you might do with the money too. And don't fall into the "it's too good a deal to pass up" trap!

It will be worth it, lol. Poly is great. Nothing like floating in the pool watching Wishes! And now the quiet pool is open, looks great. It was just a mud hole last August during our stay.

I'm sure it will be. I can't wait. :cool1:

Nope. Not me at all. I am the worst penny pincher on the planet. We actually cut things to do it. I have a budget for each trip and if we splurge on one thing, we cut another. This time we are splurging on the resort, cutting some TS meals ( we usually do way too many). It will never be, add more and more. We have a strict budget, that We just make our trips fit into. But I can see your point.

My deal that is already booked had the Park Hopper upgrade, so I won't be spending anymore than the $300. We've never stayed at a moderate. My wife and I are taking our daughter for her HS graduation present and leaving the rest at home.
Thanks for the opinions. Love to hear more!

For a HS aged daughter a moderate will be perfect! Although I've never stayed at CSR, being that I prefer POR, I have been there, to look around! And eat! Also CSR has a door between room and sink/bathroom area affording everyone a bit more privacy for changing. The other moderates have a curtain.

One of the biggest things for me is the full vs queen sized beds. I cannot imagine a week of vacation sharing a full size bed.

For me, I would do this in a heartbeat. With a HS DD, I woudl think the moderate, with all the amenities that CSR offers, woudl be perfect.

This resot is kind of like a deluxe light, in that there is a lovely TS restaurant, great Food court, and the grounds are stunning. For the occasion, I would add the moderate and not look back.

CSR is a beautiful resort with lovely rooms and grounds, but it is very spread out. We were lucky enough to book a standard room and be assigned a preferred room in the Casitas section which is a close walk to the lobby, restaurants, etc. I am not sure I would have liked it as well if we had been assigned a room at the far end of the resort.

We recently had an excellent stay at Pop, however we had a quiet corner room overlooking the lake, again not sure if I would have liked it as well if we had a room facing a noisy swimming pool. We drove and brought our own coffee maker, for me having morning coffee as we are getting ready is important. The beds and the room itself are definitely smaller at values. The food court is good for a food court but can be crazy busy at peak dining times. Due to its size, Pop can feel hectic which I never felt at CSR or any moderate.

If you can swing the $300 I would do it!

Yes, less hectic is always a plus. Thank you
